In the wake of rapid contamination of the COVID - 19 third wave, as a readiness to face any emergency situation, Nilaweli Samurdhi Training Centre (capacity - 115 patients) is being turned into an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) under the supervision of Major General Samantha Silva General Officer Commanding - 22 Infantry Division.
GA Trincomalee Mr. Saman Dharshana Padikorala, GOC 22 Infantry Division Major General Samantha Silva, Commander 221 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Priyantha Kariyawasam, Deputy Regional Director Health Services (DRGHS) - Trincomalee Dr. V Premanath and MOH Kuchchaweli Dr. S Yamuna made an observation visit to the improvised ICC on 10 May 2021. During the visit, a discussion was held with GOC and other Government officials and decided to commence ICC from 15 May 2021.
