Newly appointed 17th General Officer Commanding of 12 Infantry Division Major General PKWWMJSBW Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc made his first official visit to 122 Infantry Brigade at Weeravila and Battalion Headquarters of 12 Gajaba Regiment and 3 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard on 23 July 2024.

On 30 June 2024 troops of 12 Infantry Division commenced its support for devotees participating in the annual ‘Paada Yathra’, foot pilgrimage from Jaffna to Kataragama. The 12 Infantry Division troops are specially attending for security and administrative needs of pilgrims along the route from Kumbukkan Oya to Katagamuwa, exit point of ‘Yala National Park’. This assistance continued until 15 July 2024.

Troops of Engineer Service attached to 12 Infantry Division supported by the troops of 18 GW and 3 SLNG under took a miraculous task of constructing a new kitchen for Kataragama Dewalaya within less than 4 weeks. Responding to the request made by Basnayake Nilame, GOC 12 Infantry Division directed to attend for the task and completed before festival.
