Major General H J S Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc the Commander Security Force (Wanni) and Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services invited retired Colonel Commandants and Senior Officers of the Corps for a Get-together held at CES Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda on 14 July 2019. A large number of retired Senior Officers of CES and their spouses including past Colonel Commandants, Director Generals / Directors of Engineer Services and Centre Commandants of the Corps participated in this glamorous event and shared many happy moments. The Guest of Honour Captain G J C A Gunathilake (Retd) the Chief Guest Brigadier R Ekanayake USP (Retd) , Brigadier K D A Perera (Retd) , Brigadier L M Tennakoon RSP (Retd) , Major General S A G Sooriyarachchi USP(Retd) , Major General W R Wasanthakumara USP(Retd) , Major General D R N S Dembatapitiya USP(Retd), Major General E M M Ambanpola USP (Retd), Colonel W M Karunapala Lsc (Retd), Brigadier R M Peramune Lsc (Retd), Major General K A P J Rathnayake Lsc(Retd) , Brigadier P S M Perera Lsc (Retd), Col J D I Rodrigo USP Lsc (Retd) , Brigadier J M A R Jayasundara(Retd) , Colonel R A N Perera, Brigadier P Gunasekara USP Lsc, Brigadier A Ranasinghe (Retd) and Captain G J C A Gunathilake were among the invitees.

Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc the Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services assumed duties as the new Commander Security Force (Wanni) on 04 July 2019. In accordance with military traditions, the new Commander Security Force (Wanni) was accorded with a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the premises of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni). Thereafter he offered floral tributes at the War Heroes Monument and commemorated the fallen war heroes. In honour of the incoming Security Force Commander (Wanni) a formal Guard of Honour was bestowed by the troops of 8 Field Engineers Regiment and he was received by the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General H P Seneviratne VSV USP ndu and Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Brigadier H P Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc near the parade ground.

Under the direction of the Maj Gen H J S Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc , the Master General Ordnance and Colonel Commandant CES, the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters organized a New Year Festival for CES Officers and their families at the RHQ CES Officers Mess at Panagoda on 12 April 2019 to celebrate the forth coming Sinhala and Hindu New Year. A number of entertainment events had been organized specially for the children of CES Officers including “ Guessing Papaya seeds count” ,” Searching for the hidden Stranger” , “Musical Chairs”, Balloon Bursting” , “Picking Toffees “ and “ Jana Gee (Folk Songs) ” competition. The Col Comdt CES graced the occasion as the chief guest and Brig R Ganegoda psc the Director Engineer Services , Col K M S Kumara the Centre Commandant CES , Col S N Kithulgoda USP the Deputy Centre Comdt CES , CES Senior Officers , Officers , their spouses and large number of kids participated in this event.

The New Year Celebration of the Corps of Engineer Services was held on grand scale at the 4th (Vol) Engineer Services Regiment’s premises in Panadura on 17 April 2019 ,with the participation of large number of Officers and Other Ranks. Maj Gen H J S Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc , the Master General Ordnance and Colonel Commandant CES graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The Veterans’ Home in Katana renovated by the troops of 7th (Vol) Engineer Services Regiment commanded by Maj K A S S Perera CES under the coordination of Sri Lanka Ex-servicemen's Association was reopened by Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC , the Commander of the Army on 7 April 2019.
