The Director Engineer Services & Colonel Commandant of CES was promoted to the rank of Major General on the occasion of the 71st Army Anniversary and Army Day. The inauguration ceremony was held on 10.10.2020 at the Army Headquarters, Battaramulla under the patronage of the Chief of Defense Staff and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.

The Vehicle Service Station "E & M Auto care" constructed by Engineer Services Central WorkShop, Habarakada was declared opened by Brig R Ganegoda psc, Director Engineer Services & Colonel Commandant CES with the invitation of Col GPH Chandrarathne, Comdt ESC Wksp on 17 Sep 2020 to render the service for Tri Forces Officers and ORs to get the vehicle services done under concessional price.

A total of 10 individuals from the RHQ CES managed Mahinda Rajapaksha Stadium Quarantine Centre – Diyagama left for their homes on 12 July 2020 after completion of 14 days quarantine process under medical procedures, conduct of PCR tests on them and receipt of their Quarantine Certificates. The expatriates are from India and England.

In response to a request made by the Director, Kandy Teaching Hospital, Dr Keerthi Rathnayaka from the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, the troops of 17 Corps of Engineer Services within six days converted the Ward No. 36 to a fully functional new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to exclusively treat COVID-19 infected patients, and formally handed it over to the Hospital Director on 10 May 2020 under the patronage of the Commander Security Forces - Central, Major General W D C K Costa RSP USP. The project was supervised by the Director, Engineer Services and the Commanding Officer of 17 Corps of Engineer Services, Major R Punchihewa USP CES. The Commander Security Forces - Central, General Officer Commanding 11 Division, Major General W G H A S Bandara RWP RSP ndu, Officers and the medical Staff of Kandy Teaching Hospital participated.

In response to a request made by the Director- General of Health Service Dr Anil Jasinghe to the Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak , the troops of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) renovated an abandoned two storied building in the National Institute of Mental Health premises - Angoda and vested it for use of mentally-ill COVID-19 patients on 29 April 2020. Director Engineer Services & Colonel Commandant of CES, Brigadier R Ganegoda graced the occasion of the handing over of the new hospital building.
