The Christmas Carols Organized by the 1st Corps of Engineer Services Regiment Headquarters in collaboration with the Corps of Engineer Services Seva Vanitha Branch was held at Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters premises at Panagoda on 28 December 2019 with the participation of large number of Officers, their Spouses and Children. Brigadier R Ganegoda psc the Colonel Commandant CES & the Director Engineer Services and Dr. Mrs Niroshani Ganegoda the Hon President of CES Seva Vanitha Branch participated in this event as the Chief Guests. Colonel K M S Kumara the Centre Commandant CES, Col S N Kithulgoda USP the Deputy Centre Commandant CES, Col E A D K Edirisinghe the Col ES and many CES Senior Officers, Officers, their spouses and children also participated in this Christmas event.

As another major event of the Buddhist religious activities conducted to coincide with the 70th Anniversary Celebrations of the Corps of Engineer Services that falls on 10 January 2020, under the guidance of Brigadier R Ganegoda psc the Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services and the Director Engineer Services, the Officers and Other Ranks of the Corps of Engineer Services made a special Milk Rice offering to Anuradhapura Jaya Sri maha Bodhi on 19 December 2019 in order to invoke blessings on all members of the Corps.

The newly built Non-commissioned Officers' Mess and the Other Ranks Mess of 8th Engineer Services Regiment was opened on 24 October 2019 by Brigadier R Ganegoda psc, the Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services and the Director Engineer Services upon the invitation of the Commanding Officer Lt Col N Wanigasinghe Lsc.

Brigadier R Ganegoda psc , the Director Engineer Services assumed duties as the 12th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services during a charming ceremony rich with military formalities on 10 August 2019 at the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters.
Upon arrival, the new Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by Col K M S Kumara the Centre Commandant CES at the main entrance of Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters and accorded with a Guard Turnout. Thereafter, he laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ Monument to pay tribute to the fallen War Heroes.

Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc who is presently holding the appointments of Commander Security Force(Wanni) and Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services assumed office as the 17th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers during a charming ceremony held at Headquarters of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 25 July 2019 and in accordance with military customs and formalities , he was greeted with Military honours and ceremonials before a large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

A large number of retired Senior Officers of CES and their spouses including past Colonel Commandants, Director Generals / Directors of Engineer Services and Centre Commandants of the Corps participated in this glamorous event and shared many happy moments. Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc the Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services assumed duties as the new Commander Security Force (Wanni) on 04 July 2019. In accordance with military traditions, the new Commander Security Force (Wanni) was accorded with a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the premises of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni). Thereafter he offered floral tributes at the War Heroes Monument and commemorated the fallen war heroes. In honour of the incoming Security Force Commander (Wanni) a formal Guard of Honour was bestowed by the troops of 8 Field Engineers Regiment and he was received by the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General H P Seneviratne VSV USP ndu and Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Brigadier H P Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc near the parade ground.

Under the direction of the Maj Gen H J S Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc , the Master General Ordnance and Colonel Commandant CES, the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters organized a New Year Festival for CES Officers and their families at the RHQ CES Officers Mess at Panagoda on 12 April 2019 to celebrate the forth coming Sinhala and Hindu New Year. A number of entertainment events had been organized specially for the children of CES Officers including “ Guessing Papaya seeds count” ,” Searching for the hidden Stranger” , “Musical Chairs”, Balloon Bursting” , “Picking Toffees “ and “ Jana Gee (Folk Songs) ” competition. The Col Comdt CES graced the occasion as the chief guest and Brig R Ganegoda psc the Director Engineer Services , Col K M S Kumara the Centre Commandant CES , Col S N Kithulgoda USP the Deputy Centre Comdt CES , CES Senior Officers , Officers , their spouses and large number of kids participated in this event.
