Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC the Commander of the Army declared open the new Officers’ Mess Building of the 11 Division Headquarters at Pallekele , Kandy on 25 February 2019.
The Officers Mess Building was constructed by the troops of 17th Engineer Servicers Regiment headed by Captain D M C U L Dissanayake CES the Garrison Engineer Kandy under the command of Lt Col Y K S Rangika psc CES the Commanding Officer 17 ESR.

The 7 Stored Dr Thilak Abeysekara Kidney Treatment & Concessionary Centre constructed by the 17th Engineer Services Regiment in Kandy Teaching Hospital premises was declared open by His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena on 25 February 2019 in the presence of a large gathering of Buddhist Monks, Clergy, Ministers, Secretaries, Chief Ministers, State Officials, Chief of Defence Staff, Army, Navy and Air Force Commanders and a large crowd of invitees and Kidney Patients, taking treatment from the Kandy Teaching Hospital.

In connection with the Corps of Engineer Services 69th Anniversary Celebrations , a musical evening and a lottery draw were held on 11th of January with the participation of a large gathering of Officers and Other Ranks . Maj Gen H J S Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc, the Master General Ordnance and Colonel Commandant CES graced occasion as the Chief Guest. The lottery draw was held under the supervision of the representatives of the National Lotteries Board and valuable prizes were awarded to the winners. Brig R Ganegoda psc the Director of Engineer Services, Col KMS Kumara psc the Centre Commandant CES, Col S N Kithulgoda the Deputy Centre Commandant CES, other Senior Officers, Officers, and large number of Other Ranks were present in this colorful evening.

Corps of Engineer Services celebrated its 69th anniversary in a grand scale on 10 January 2019. In the morning Guard Turnouts were presented to Brig R Ganegoda psc the Director Engineer Services and Col K M S Kumara the Centre Commandant CES.

The Corps of Engineer Services annual War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony and the Pirith Chanting Ceremony were held at the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters on 04 January 2019 under the guidance of Maj Gen H J S Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc the Master General Ordnance and the Colonel Commandant CES who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Floral tributes were offered by the Colonel Commandant, Senior Officers and Family members of the Fallen War Heroes and Civil employees who sacrificed their lives during the war. Also valuable gifts packs were presented to the family members of the Fallen War Heroes. Later that day, the Pirith Ceremony preceded by a Colourful procession was held and it was followed by an almsgiving to Maha Sangha on the following day morning.
