The Corps of Engineer Services celebrated its 71st anniversary at the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda on 10 January 2021. Major General R Ganegoda psc the Director General Engineer Services and the Colonel Commandant CES graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and he was welcomed by Brigadier K M S Kumara the Centre Commandant CES at the main entrance of the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters. After receiving the Guard Turnout accorded to the Colonel Commandant, he placed floral tributes at the Corps of Engineer Services War Heroes Memorial in honour of fallen War Heroes.Thereafter, in accordance with military formalities, a Guard of honour was held in salute of the Colonel Commandant.
After appearing for the group photograph with Officers and Other Ranks, the Colonel Commandant cut the “Birthday Cake” at the Officers’ Mess to mark the 71st Anniversary of the Corps and addressed all the Officers present.
After the Officers address, 818 NVQ Certificates were significantly distributed among few Other Rankers who successfully completed the NVQ Certificate courses. Mr. Tharanga Nalin Gamlath (Chairman - NAITA), Prof. Mahinda S. Rupasinghe (Vice Chairman - NAITA), Mrs. R.M.A.P Samaradiwakara (Director, Quality - NAITA) and Mr. S.V.P Wickramasinghe (Assistant Director, Assessment - NAITA) participated the event as the Chief Guests. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in this event adhering to the Coivd 19 rules and regulations.
