In response to a request made by the Director- General of Health Service Dr Anil Jasinghe to the Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak , the troops of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) renovated an abandoned two storied building in the National Institute of Mental Health premises - Angoda and vested it for use of mentally-ill COVID-19 patients on 29 April 2020. Director Engineer Services & Colonel Commandant of CES, Brigadier R Ganegoda graced the occasion of the handing over of the new hospital building.

The administrative inspection of the Corps of Engineer Services was held on 10 March 2020 in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General SathyapriyaLiyanageWWV RWP VSV USP ndcpscat the Regimental HeadquarterCorps of Engineer Services, Panagoda. It mainly focused to ensure all units and Institutes of the Corps are functioning as per stipulated procedures of the Sri Lanka Army and to resolve any of pending issues.

Sri Lanka Army Team won the Defence Services Billiards & Snooker championship 2020 in Defence Services Games held in 26 Feb 2020 at Billiards and Snooker Complex, Corps of Engineer Services. Rear Admiral (S) M M V B Meddegoda USP MSc MBA(Aus) BA(DS) LLMC , the Director General Budget and Finance participated as the Chief Guest of this occasion.

Brigadier R Ganegoda psc the Director Engineer Services and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services visited the 11 Engineer Services Regiment on 21 February 2020 in order to open the “Wadula” Kabana Holiday Resort and the RO plant. A guard of Honor was accorded to Col Comdt in the morning and an introduction presentation was presented by the Commanding Officer of 11 Engineer Services Regiment Maj PAAS Perera in his office.

The Corps of Engineer Services celebrated its 70th anniversary in a grand scale at the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda on 10 January 2020. Brigadier R Ganegoda psc the Director Engineer Services and the Colonel Commandant CES graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and he was warmly welcomed by Colonel K M S Kumara the Centre Commandant CES at the main entrance of the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters. After receiving the Guard Turnout accorded the Colonel Commandant, he placed floral tributes at the Corps of Engineer Services War Heroes Memorial in honour of fallen War Heroes. Thereafter, in accordance with military formalities, a colorful parade was held in salute of the Colonel Commandant.

The Corps of Engineer Services WOs' & Sgts' Mess “Guest Night” organized in parallel to 70th Anniversary Corps Day Celebrations was held at the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda on 07 January 2020 with the participation of a large number of serving and retired members of the WOs’ & Sgts’ Mess. Brigadier R Ganegoda psc the Colonel Commandant CES and the Director Engineer Services graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Colonel KMS Kumara the Centre Commandant CES, Colonel S N Kithulgoda the Deputy Centre Commandant CES, Colonel E A D K Edirisinghe the Colonel (Engineer Services) Directorate of Engineer Services , Other Senior Officers and Officers also participated in this event. The Corps' Sergeant Major WOI M G T K Wilson welcomed the Chief Guest and other invitees.
