On the directions of the Commander of the Army, the CES War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony was held at the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters on 18 May 2018 at 0930 hrs. Maj Gen K A P J Ratnayake Lsc, the Director General Engineer Services and the Colonel Commandant CES graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Honoring the CES War Heroes and Civil Employees who sacrificed their lives during the War, floral tributes were offered by the Colonel Commandant, Senior Officers and the Corps Sergeant Major. Col R Ganegoda psc. the Centre Comdt CES, Col K M S Kumara , the Deputy Centre Comdt CES , Lt Col N W P S M Perera CES , SO I (Admin) - RHQ CES , Lt Col G W A S B Muhandiramge USP CES, CO - 1 ESR , large number of Senior Officers , Officers and Other Ranks participated in this event.

The 5th Engineer Services Regiment celebrated its 21st Unit Day on 27 January 2018 at its Headquarters in Kankasanthurei. A Guard turnout was accorded to Major General KAPJ Rathnayake Lsc the Director General Engineer Services and the Colonel Commandant CES who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
