Corps of Engineer Services celebrated its 69th anniversary in a grand scale on 10 January 2019. In the morning Guard Turnouts were presented to Brig R Ganegoda psc the Director Engineer Services and Col K M S Kumara the Centre Commandant CES.
A formal Guard Turnout followed by a colorful parade was accorded to Maj Gen H J S Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc, the Master General Ordnance and Colonel Commandant CES who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
After appearing for the group photographs with Officers and Other Ranks, the Colonel Commandant laid the cornerstone of the new Kitchen Building and the Headquarter Building of the 1st Engineer Services Regiment at its new premises at Kalatuwawa, Panagoda. Also on the invitation of Lt Col GWASB Muhandiramge CES the Commanding Officer 1 ESR , the newly-built Multi Facility Building of the 1st Engineer Services was declared open by the Colonel Commandant.
Thereafter , a Series of sports events followed by some spectacular entertainment events and a Band display were held at the Sports ground and valuable prices were distributed among the winners.
An all-rank lunch, headed by the Chief Guest brought the Corps Day ceremonies to culmination.
