The 15th Contingent of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company in the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) presented a ceremonial salute to Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, afore their departure to take over peacekeeping duties on 01 March 2024 at the Regimental Centre, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Boyagane, Kurunegala.
The Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, made his maiden visit to the Battalions of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment deployed under Security Forces (Wanni) and Security Forces (Jaffna) areas on 24 and 25 February 2024 respectively.

Lieutenant Colonel WMMWBHG Pitawala RSP USP assumed the office as the 14th Staff Officer 1 (Administration) of Regimental Centre Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 17 January 2024 during a brief ceremony at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.
Amidst formal military formalities, Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc assumed office as the 18th Commander of Security Force (Central) on 10 January 2023.
Placing his signature in an official document at the auspicious minute amid religious blessings, he symbolized the acceptance of his new appointment. Prior to this new office, Major General Rohitha Aluvihare served as the Adjutant General of the Army Headquarters.
The Officers’ Training Day for the fourth quarter of the year 2023 was successfully held at the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 21st December 2023 with the participation of more than 100 officers including several council members and a few other senior officers of the regiment.
Colonel H P D S Gunawardane RSP assumed the office as the 14th Deputy Centre Commandant of Regimental Centre Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 22 December 2023 during a brief ceremony at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.
Colonel Sanjeewa Gunawardane was enlisted to Sri Lanka Army Regular Force on 27 October 1994 and followed the basic military training as an Officer Cadet with Intake PMA 8. After completion of training successfully he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 11 April 1995 and posted to the 5th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
Lieutenant Colonel A B S Athukorala RWP assumed office as the 8th Staff Officer I (Logistics) of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 18 December 2023 during a brief ceremony held at the Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.
Lieutenant Colonel Buddhika Athukorala was enlisted to Sri Lanka Army Regular Force on 04 July 1998 and followed the basic military training as an Officer Cadet with Intake 48. After a successful training he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 17 June 2000 and posted to the 5th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
