VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT CELEBRATES ITS 35th ANNIVERSARY

Showcasing glamour and pride on a grand scale, as one of the most prestigious fighting regiments of the Sri Lanka Army, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment recently celebrated its 35th anniversary with colourful and vibrant ceremony held at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane, in the presence of regimental council members, senior officers, officers and other ranks.

1 VIR Celebrates Excellence in Air Assault Course No 29

Air Assault Course No - 29 conducted at Airmobile Training School was successfully terminated on 05th March 2025 with passing out parade consisted 5 officers and 111 Other Ranks belongs to 3 SLLI, 3 GW, 12 SLSR, 3 GR and 1 VIR. In that, 1 VIR was highlighted for outstanding achievements of its members in recent course. Demonstrating exceptional individual firing skills and dedication, Lt PH Jayasinghe (O/72449) has been honored as the Best Firer while (S/524265) Cpl Wijeratne KRGTN has been awarded the title of the Best Student.

SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (CENTRAL) DISTRIBUTES DATES TO SUPPORT MUSLIM COMMUNITY IN PREPARATION FOR RAMADAN

Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ - Central) recently conducted a program aimed at distributing dates to Haputale, Diyatalawa and Kahagolla Jummah Masjids on 24 February 2025. This initiative was organized to support the Muslim community in preparation for the upcoming fasting season.

NEWLY PROMOTED MAJOR GENERAL SUBATH SANJEEWA HONOURED IN A FELICITATION CEREMONY

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP and supervision of the Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Major General PS Subath Sanjeewa RSP nps psc, Director of the Directorate of Plans on 07 February 2025 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.

VIR BIDS FAREWELL TO RETIRING BRIGADIER

The Vijaybahu Infantry Regiment bade formal farewell to the retiring Brigadier P A D T U Perera upon completion of 35 years of valuable service to the organization in a fitting ceremony which took place on 24 Jan 2025.
Accordingly, outgoing Brigadier Tanilka Perera was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout and a ceremonial Parade in appreciation of his service to the regiment, where he addressed all the troops and extended his thanks to all members.

S/517602 SGT SAGEETH KUMARA KKM COMPLETED PLATOON COMMANDER COURSE IN INDIA

S/517602 Sgt Sageeth Kumara KKM of 7 Battalion, The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment has completed Platoon Commander Course Ser No – 286 from 06 Nov 2024 to 07 Jan 2025 in India and he has been awarded the distinguished comment out of 24 foreign SNCO’S by the Infantry School Belagavi - India, recognizing his outstanding contributions to course. He is a outstanding and motivated SGT. He has displayed high standards of tactical acumen during the course. His clear workable solutions to tactical problems highlighted his commitment and determination to perform the task given.

SEVA VANITHA BRANCH THE VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT VISITED THE HOME

As per the concept suggested by the Hon. President of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Damayanthi Bandaranayake and Adjutant General of the Army and Regimental Commander of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, a visit was made to the "Talitha Cum" St. Anne's Convent, Pitakotte, a home for cancer patients, in aggregation with the Christmas celebrations of 2024 to query about the well being and general needs of the cancer patients.
