Maj H M L B Wijeykoon RWP RSP assumed duties as 10th Commanding Officer of 09th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 07th July 2025 at 9th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment KALLAR with a formal military ceremony.
Invigorating an age-old military tradition, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment hosted a farewell ceremony in honour of the retiring Major General WSN HEMARATHNA RWP RSP psc at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala, in which his 34 years of distinguished service was hailed and awarded accolades on 06 June 2025.
Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP and supervision of the Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Major General W M N K D Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Director of the Directorate of Training on 27 May 2025 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.
Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Commander, Security Forces – Central and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP and supervision of the Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Major General W M N K D Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu psc and Brigadier K D Gothatuwa RWP RSP on 27 May 2025 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.
In celebration of the sacred Vesak Poya, the Vijayabahu Seva Vanitha Branch, in collaboration with the Regimental Centre and all Vijayabahu Infantry Battalions, successfully organized a Kadala and Ice Cream Dansala on 12 May 2025 at Malpitiya Junction.
The programme was conducted under the concept and supervision of the Chairperson of the Vijayabahu Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Damayanthi Bandaranayake, and with the guidance of Commander Security Forces - Central and Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP.
The Vijaybahu Infantry Regiment bade formal farewell to the retiring Brigadier D K Aludeniya RWP upon completion of 35 years of valuable service to the organization in a fitting ceremony which took place on 27 April 2025.
Accordingly, outgoing Brigadier Dhananjaya Aludeniya was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout and a ceremonial Parade in appreciation of his service to the regiment, where he addressed all the troops and extended his thanks to all members.
A new workshop inclusive of all fundamental facilities and instruments which was constructed for the benefit of construction team of the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was declared open by the Commander, Security Forces – Central and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP during a brief ceremony on 27 April 2025.
While uplifting the living standard and welfare of the soldiers, Construction of a new Kitchen for Oher Ranks of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was initiated under the directions of the Commander, Security Forces – Central and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP on 27 April 2025.
Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Commander, Security Forces – Central and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP and supervision of the Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Major General B M R J Bandara, Brigadier S M C A S Samarathunga RSP and Brigadier K M U P Kalupahana USP psc on 27 April 2025 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.
Under the patronage of the Commander, Security Forces Head Quater (Central) and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, the Officers’ Training Day for the first quarter of the year 2025 was successfully held at the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 04 April 2025.
