Under the patronage of the Commander, Security Forces Head Quater (Central) and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, the Officers’ Training Day for the first quarter of the year 2025 was successfully held at the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 04 April 2025.
Following the set programme, the day's proceedings commenced with a morning physical training session at the Regimental Playground. The day’s first lecture was conducted on a timely and a critical issue regarding the topic of " Human Trafficking " by Lt Col AS Karunarathna RSP psc. Next there was a panel discussion headed by all Grade 1 Staff Officers of Regimental Centre where the Officers got an opportunity to clarify their doubts regarding Regimental matters and also new suggestions and proposals for the betterment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment were suggested by the participants from different angles. To further inspire and entertain, the film "Hacksaw Ridge" based on a true story depicting the life of Desmond Doss, a real – life hero and a combat medic during World War II was screened at the Archers’ Cinema.
In line with the Officers’ Training Day, another successful Diners Club session was held at “The Salute” Multifunctional Hall, Boyagane with the participation of officers serving in various military establishments including officers of VIR Battalions. As the guest speaker of the night, Mr. Rajiv Ekanayake conducted an informative and thought - provoking lecture on the topic “Work/Life balance”. Officers took the opportunity to share their views with the audience and had an interactive session with the guest speaker. The event culminated with a glamorous showcase of a musical event where the Officers got an opportunity to witness diverse talents in a vibrant atmosphere.
The Commander of 57 Infantry Division, Major General K D M L Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc, the Centre Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Senior Officers and Officers also participated in this event.
