Cavalry family celebrated traditional Sinhala Tamil New Year with Sannaddha Bak Maha Ulela 2017 at Rock House Camp, Modara on 18th April 2017 in grandeurs manner. The Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP ndc psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
There were array of traditional games and entertainments to provide joy and promote the unity amongst the Cavalry Family which is the hallmark of New Year. The event was organized by the staff of Armoured Brigade, Regimental Centre, 1 SLAC and members of Armour Ladies Club.

Troopers once again called for service of the Nation and involved in several rescue and relief operations in areas inundated due to heavy showers in past few days. SLAC troops operated in affected areas in combination with other Regiments of the Army, Sister Services as well as in coordination with Disaster Management Centers. Amphibious capabilities of the BTRs and WMZs were putting to optimum use when rescuing the victims and distributing of foods and other relief items to stranded civilians mainly in districts of Rathnapura, Mathara, Galle and Kaluthara.

Sri Lankan Motor Racing fans were officially announced about Cavalry Supercross 2017 which is one of the most adventurous and thrilling events of Motor Racing Calendar. Official Media Briefing was held at Cavalry Officersâ Mess with the participation of Sponsors and members of both electronic and print media.Cavalry Supercrossis scheduled to be held on 2nd July 2017 as its 7th edition at the breathtaking racing track located in Pangolla, Kurunegala.Event is organized by Sri Lanka Armoured Corps in association with Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders.

Armour Ladies Club under the patronage of its president Mrs Sheromi Liyanage took initiative to distribute dry ration packs among the people who were affected due to the flood that caused massive damages in Sabaragamuwa, Western and Southern Provinces. Mrs Sheromi Liyanage handed over the dry ration packs to Centre Commandant and after being delivered them to Agalawatta in Western Province, CO 1 SLAC distributed them among the affected families.
