  • Maj Gen Nandana Udawatta awarded the Rana Wickrama Padakkama

    Major General N Udawatta WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps awarded the Rana Wickrama Padakkama for his heroic deeds in war with effect from 27th October 2016. He was conferred the medal and the credential by His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces at ceremony held on 27th October 2016.

  • WELFARE ITEMS DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME

    Considering the requirement of war heroes and their family members, Armour Ladies Club organized the welfare items distribution programme on 29th October 2016 at Officersâ Mess Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.

    Mrs Shirani Udawatta, President of Armour Ladies Club chaired the simple ceremony and attended many Armour Ladies Club members. During the briefed programme, a series of financial donations and required items were provided on behalf of several war-affected soldiers and their family members. The list of recipients are as follows.

  • CAVALRY FAMILY BID FAREWELL TO MAJOR GENERAL NANDANA UDAWATTA

    One of most decorated senior cavalryman Major General N Udawatta WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps retired from the Army on 10th November 2016 after serving for more the 35 years. Sri Lanka Armoured Corps held a parade and a formal dinner night at the Rock House camp premises on 10th November 2016, giving pride and paying gratitude for his invaluable service to the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and to the Sri Lanka Army. Commencing the days programme Major General N Udawatta WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel R R M P N B Bambaradeniya RWP RSP USP psc, Commanding Officer of the 1st Reconnaissance Regiment SLAC on his arrival to the parade ground and followed with a Guard Turnout before being accorded with the colourful ceremonial parade commanded by Lieutenant Colonel T A M K de Silva RSP USP psc, the Commanding Officer of 5th Reconnaissance Regiment SLAC. Thereafter, Major General Nandana Udawatta officially handed over duties as the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and therein planted a tree sapling to mark the event followed with All Ranks Tea.

  • CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE ARMY ASSUME OFFICE AS THE COLONEL COMMANDANT OF SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS

    Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General U A B Medawela RSP VSV USP ndu psc assumed duties as the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps amidst religious blessings at the Regimental Centre today, 11 November 2016.Commencing the days programme newly appointed Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Lieutenant Colonel R R M P N B Bambaradeniya RWP RSP USP psc, Commanding Officer of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment at the entrance to the Home of Armour.Having honoured with the Guard Turnout presented by troops of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment, Major General Ubaya Medawela officially assumed duties as the Colonel Commandant with the presence of Brigadier Duminda Gamage psc, Centre Commandant and Brigadier Prathap Tillekerathna RWP RSP USP psc, Commander Armoured Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Sumith Meepagala, Deputy Centre Commandant and the Regimental Adjutant Major Suranga Witharana psc.Subsequently, charming and elegant parade commanded by Lieutenant Colonel T A M K de Silva RSP USP psc, Commanding Officer of 5th Reconnaissance Regiment was accorded to the new Colonel Commandant at the Mahapola Ground in front of a cheerful gathering.

  • ARMOURED CORPS PAYS RICH TRIBUTE TO MAJOR GENERAL UBAYA MEDAWELA

    Major General Ubaya Medawela, Chief of Staff of the Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps retired from the Army on 2nd December 2016 after serving for more the 35 years. A charm ceremony was held at the Rock House Camp premises on 2nd December 2016 bidding farewell to senior cavalrymen in respect of his invaluable service to the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and to the Sri Lanka Army.
