    Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa, one of the finest warriors ever produced by the Army and Sri Lanka Armoured Corps in our contemporary history fell silent on August 8, 1992. The 24th death anniversary of the legendary war hero, Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa RWP RSP VSV USP rcds psc Sri Lanka Armoured Corps was held at Armour War Heores Monument Park at Kalattawa on 8 August fell on 08th August 2016 with the presence of the late Lieutenant Generals lady Mrs Laly Kobbekaduwa as the Chief Guest. Major General Milinda Peiris, the Chief of Staff of the Army and the Colonel Command of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps graced the occasion.

  • ALL SET TO STAGE THE 6TH EDITION OF CAVALRY SUPER CROSS 2016

    All set to stage the 6th edition of the Cavalry Super Cross 2016, a major event in the Annual National Motor Racing and Riding calendar organize by the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps in association with Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) on12 June 2016 at 08.30 am at the Pangolla racing track, Kurunegala.Pangolla racing track remain as a spectacular racing track of the country due to the scenic beauty of the site. Moreover, entire track is visible in every point of view and the track is sited on an embankment of the enchanting Daduru Oya with a backdrop of a magnificent hill range and the soothing greenery of Pangolla in Kurunegala.The 60 feet wide and 1.5 km long racing track with three corners will host 21 racing events including the events to choose the Best Driver and the Best Rider on the tracks.

  • FAREWELL OF THE MOST LOYAL CAVALRYMAN

    The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps paid a bid farewell to its most loyal son, Major General M P Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc on Wednesday (11th Aug). The former Chief of Staff of the Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps has received a big salute on his retirement at the end 36 years of active service as the iconic feature of the cavalry family. The day programme commenced with the arrival on Major General Milinda Peiris and he was welcomed by the Lt Col L K T Fernando RSP, the commanding officer of the 1st Reconnaissance Regiment following a Guard Turnout. The colorful parade was reviewed by the outgoing Colonel Commandant, accompanied by the Parade Commander together with Brigadier D T Gamage psc, Centre Commandant and Brigadier R G U Rajapaksha RSP psc, Commander Armoured Brigade in accordance with military traditions.

  • NEWLY APPOINTED COLONEL COMMANDANT ASSUMED THE OFFICE

    Major General N Udawatta WWV RSP VSV USP ndc psc took up the reins of Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps amid religious blessings and cheerful gathering at the Regimental Centre today (18 Aug 2016).Newly appointed Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Lt Col R R M P N B Bambaradeniya RWP RSP USP psc, Commanding Officer 1st Reconnaissance Regiment and then honoured with the Guard Turnout presented by the troops of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment. Soon, charming and elegant parade was displayed at the Mahapola Ground. Afterwards, Maj Gen Udawatta officially assumed the duties of Colonel Commandant in the midst of Pirith Chanting by the Maha Sanga at the auspicious time.The Planting of tree sapling and All Ranks tea party took place at the Rock House Camp premises. The day event terminated with Officers Addressed by the Colonel Commandant Maj Gen Nandana Udawatta.

  • BRIGADIER PRATHAP TILLEKERATHNA TOOK THE REIGNS OF ARMOURED BRIGADE

    Brig A L P S Tillekerathna RSP USP psc assumed the duties as the 23rd Commander Armoured Brigade on 29th September 2016.

    He was warmly welcomed by Lt Col W P Kariyawasam, Staff Officer 1 of Armoured Brigade and honoured with the Guard Turnout presented by troops of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.

    Newly-appointed Commander Armoured Brigade took over duties with the religious blessings and therein addressed the troops.

  • MAJOR GENERAL UBAYA MEDAWELA ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE ARMY

    Major General U A B Medawela RSP VSV USP ndu psc assumed duties as the new Chief of Staff, the second highest appointment of the Sri Lanka Army on Tuesday, 1st November 2016 amidst greetings and best wishes.

    Major General Ubaya Medawela served as the Military Advisor (Minister) to the office of the permanent representative of Sri Lanka for United Nations in New York, USA since October 2015 prior to take up office as the Chief of Staff of the Army. Furthermore he was elected unanimously as the Dean of the Asian Group of Military and Police Advisor during his stay in the US.

  • Maj Gen Nandana Udawatta awarded the Rana Wickrama Padakkama

    Major General N Udawatta WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps awarded the Rana Wickrama Padakkama for his heroic deeds in war with effect from 27th October 2016. He was conferred the medal and the credential by His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces at ceremony held on 27th October 2016.

  • CAVALRY FAMILY BID FAREWELL TO MAJOR GENERAL NANDANA UDAWATTA

    One of most decorated senior cavalryman Major General N Udawatta WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps retired from the Army on 10th November 2016 after serving for more the 35 years. Sri Lanka Armoured Corps held a parade and a formal dinner night at the Rock House camp premises on 10th November 2016, giving pride and paying gratitude for his invaluable service to the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and to the Sri Lanka Army. Commencing the days programme Major General N Udawatta WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel R R M P N B Bambaradeniya RWP RSP USP psc, Commanding Officer of the 1st Reconnaissance Regiment SLAC on his arrival to the parade ground and followed with a Guard Turnout before being accorded with the colourful ceremonial parade commanded by Lieutenant Colonel T A M K de Silva RSP USP psc, the Commanding Officer of 5th Reconnaissance Regiment SLAC. Thereafter, Major General Nandana Udawatta officially handed over duties as the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and therein planted a tree sapling to mark the event followed with All Ranks Tea.
