552 Infantry Brigade proudly celebrated its 17thAnniversary at the headquarters premises on 17 January 2024 amidst religious observances and in accordance with Military traditions on the direction of Brigadier DSS Radalage RWP RSP, the Brigade Commander 552 Infantry Brigade. Further marking the day's importance, a cricket tournament was also coordinated by the troops. During the celebration, School Bags were gifted to the children of 62 Non - Commissioned Officers and Civil Workersas token of appreciation.

The Amphibious Training Exercise “SEAGULL” kicked off at Northern Sea area, Palaitivu Island in Jaffna peninsula on 07 January and continued till 12 January 2024. The main exercise held on 11 January 2024 concluded the joint exercise, which was attended by troops of Army, Navy and Air Force.

Major General SRK Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, who held the office of the Commander of Security Forces - Jaffna, relinquished the appointment on 13th January 2024 to retire from the Army Regular Force after completing over 35 year of illustrious service.

Before embarkation on exercise “SEAGULL”, 51 Infantry Division conducted amphibious operation training in Northern Naval Area with the assistance of Sri Lanka Navy. Amphibious warfare is a type of offensive military operation that uses naval ships to project ground and air power onto a hostile or potentially hostile shore at a designated landing beach. The Exercise “Seagull” is a joint operation between SL Army, SL Navy and SL Air Force.

In a dignified ceremony held on 21 December 2023, Colonel WAIS Mendis RSP USP of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps officially assumed the role of the 21st Commander of the 553 Infantry Brigade. The transition took place at an auspicious timing, marked by religious observances and the planting of a sapling symbolizing growth and unity.

The 55 Infantry Division proudly celebrated its 27th Anniversary at the Division Headquarters in Kilinochchi on 20th December 2023, marking a significant milestone in its illustrious history. The Division was raised on 20th December 1996 in Wanni theatre and had rendered its services to the motherland with utmost dedication over the years passed.

The Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, declared open the newly-built Other Ranks Holiday Bungalow, the 'Beach Edge' Holiday Bungalow, at T-Junction Palaly on 14th December 2023. The brainchild behind the construction was the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc. Unveiling of the plaque of the bungalow followed blessings of all Officers and Other Ranks during a simple ceremony at an auspicious time.

The most recently appointed Commander of the 512 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier MPSP Kulasekara WWV RWP RSP of Sri Lanka Light Infantry assumed duties as the 28th Brigade Commander on 14 December 2023. The new Brigade Commander signed a formal document at the auspicious time and the new appointment was symbolized in the midst of religious rituals.

Her Excellency Dr. Siri Walt, the Ambassador of Switzerland, His Excellency Hideaki Mizukoshi, the Ambassador of Japan and His Excellency Sadile Schalk, the High Commissioner of South Africa paid a courtesy visit to Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna during on 14th December 2023.

Major General SRK Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc assumed duties as the 30th Commander of Security Forces (Jaffna) on 12th June 2023.

In accordance with military traditions, Major General SRK Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc reviewed the Guard Turnout and received the salute of the Guard of Honour, presented by the troops of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, after his arrival at the SFHQ (J) premises. He placed his signature in the first document to mark assuming duties, amidst chanting of Seth Pirith in the presence of General Officer Commanding of 51, 52, 55 Infantry Divisions, and Senior Staff Officers of Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna.
