Kalaimathi Sports Club emerged winners of the Major General Ravi Ratnasingham Challenge Trophy -2022; the Inter-Club Soccer Tournament in Karaveddi and Point Pedro DS divisions, organized by the 551 Infantry Brigade, celebrating the 73rd Anniversary of the Army, under the supervision of Major General Prasanna Gunaratne, General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division in accordance with the conceptual guidance of Major Genenral Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna).

As per the direction of the General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division, Major General Mahendra Fernando all Kovils in Jaffna were arranged for the Deepavali festival for the devotees to attend the rituals with comfortness along with the respective priests by the under command Brigades.

In a simple ceremony attended by Maj Gen PrasannaGunaratne, GOC 55 Infantry Division as the Chief Guest, troops of 551 Infantry Brigade handed over a Smart Class Room to students of Katkovalam Missionary Mixed Tamil School in Point Pedro on 19 October 2022.

Troops of 552 Infantry Brigade under command to 55 Infantry Division of Security Forces (Jaffna), launched another community project as per the conceptual guidance of General Officer Commanding - 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG along with the supervision of the Commander - 552 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Wijayanath Jayaweera USP psc.

On a concept, made by the General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG along with the guidance of the Commander 552 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Wijayanath Jayaweera USP psc, the troops of 1st Mechanized Infantry Regiment organized an Inter-GN Division Volleyball Tournament.

The traditional Katina Pooja in the historical Tissa Raja Maha Vihara in Kankesanthurai, was held by a series of religious observances under the patronage of the Chief Incumbent of the temple, Venerable Ginthota Nandarama Thero.

The climax of the whole religious festival took place on 16th and 17th October 2022 with the participation of Maha Sangha, in the presence of Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), military personnel and gathering of devotees.

An Inter Club Soccer Tournament in Karaveddi and Point Pedro DS divisions was kicked off on 15 October 2022 at Collins' Sports Grounds, Nelliady in celebrating 73rd anniversary of the Army under the instructions of Maj Gen Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander, Security Forces, Jaffna. This is one of the key initiatives to promote game of soccer in Vadamarachchi and to build trust and confidence among civilians in accordance with the conceptual guidance of Security Force Commander.

The soccer tournament where 8 top teams of Vadamarachchi Football League competing each other for prestigious Ravi Ratnasingham Challenge trophy and Rs 100,000 is organised by 551 Infantry Brigade under the supervision of Maj Gen Prasanna Gunaratne, GOC 55 Infantry Division.

General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division, Major General Sanjeewa Fernando RWP RSP ndu and all troops, during 15 – 16 October 2022 assisted the conduct of the annual ‘Katina Cheevara’ ceremony at Navathkuli Sammidhi Sumana Vihara under the guidance of the Chief incumbent of the temple,Venerable Shasthrapthi Hanwelle Rathnasiri Thero.
