The traditional Katina Pooja in the historical Tissa Raja Maha Vihara in Kankesanthurai, was held by a series of religious observances under the patronage of the Chief Incumbent of the temple, Venerable Ginthota Nandarama Thero.
The climax of the whole religious festival took place on 16th and 17th October 2022 with the participation of Maha Sangha, in the presence of Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), military personnel and gathering of devotees.
The religious event was organized by all Units under command to Forward Maintenance Area (North) as per the guidance of Brigadier Clifford Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, the Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North).Troops extended their maximum support for the conduct of annual Katina Pooja ceremony. The religious programme was concluded with “Heel Daana” and offering of 'Atapirikara' to Bhikkus and Katinanisansa Sermon by the Chief Incumbent of the Temple.
