Major General Mahendra Fernando WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc assumed duties as the 32nd General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division under the Security Forces (Jaffna) amid religious blessings on 09th October 2022 at the Headquarters 51 Infantry Division in Kopay, Jaffna.
The newly appointed General Officer Commanding paid obeisance to Sri Nagavihara International Buddhist Centre, Jaffna and received blessings from the Chief Incumbent of the temple Venerable Meegahajandura Siriwimala Thero. Afterwards, paid a courtesy called on Rt. Reverend Dr. Justin B Gnanapragasam, the Bishop of Jaffna.
Later on, Major General Mahendra Fernando WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc called on the Head of Nallai Adheenam Sri La Sri Somasundara Gnanasambhantha Paramachariya Swamigal on 12th October 2022 at Nallai Thirugnanasambandar Adheenam. Additionally, on the same day the Commander of 51 Infantry Division paid a visit and met the Government Agent, Jaffna Mr. Kanapathipillai Mahesan and Divisional Secretary, Jaffna Mr. S Sutharsan.
