Continuing with its Community Assistance projects, troops of 551 Infantry Brigade, on the guidelines of Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) once again extended their helping hands to laid the foundation stone to erect another new house for a well deserving family in the Thumpalai, Point Pedro on Thursday, 24 November 2022 in the presence of Brigadier Clifford de Zoysa, Commander- Forward Maintenance Area (North) as the Chief Guest.

The Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Chandana Wijayasundara bid salutes to the troops of 51, 52, 55 Infantry Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area (North) before ending the tenure as the Commander Security Forces Jaffna. The visiting Outgoing Commander was warmly and honourly welcomed by the respective Commanders of the Divisions and the Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North) in their respective Headquarters following the military traditions and customs.

Manpower and technical expertise of the Army and the patronage of a generous donor enabled the 551 Infantry Brigade troops to build a new house for a low income family in the general area of Puloly (West), Point Pedro and vested it with the beneficiaries in the presence of Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna).

On a concept and the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division, Major General Sanjeewa Fernando in order to maintain goodwill among the Army and Tamil Community, the staff of the 52 Infantry Division offered a special lunch on 22 November 2022, for thirty-five people who are residing in the Deaf and Blind Elders Home at Kaithady.

As per the invitation of Major L D Rathnaweera USP, the Commanding Officer Army Base Hospital Palalythe newly-constructed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU) was declared open during a brief ceremony held on 20 November 2022 under the patronage of Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General ChandanaWijayasundara.

The annual Cricket and Futsal tournaments organised by the 51 Infantry Division for the civil sports club teams held at the CIMIC Park Kopay under the guidance of Major General Mahendra Fernando, General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division on 20 November 2022.

On the conceptual guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division Major General Prasanna Gunaratna RSP ndu psc IG and the supervision of Brigadier WijayanathJayaweera USP psc the Commander 552 Infantry Brigade; the troops of 552 Infantry Brigade of the 55 Infantry Division under Security Forces (Jaffna), in continuation of its series of community assistance programmes, conducted a donation programme (worth about 1.8 million rupees) on 20 November 2022 at Iyakkachchi Government Mix Tamil School (GMTS).

In another community welfare project under the Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) programme, the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) organized a donation of essential school items and dry/fresh ration packs for school children in Palaly North Government Mix Tamil School (GMTS) on Sunday 20 November 2022.

As per the conceptual guidance of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, “Thalsevana Hotel Management System Software”, developed by Directorate of Information Technology was installed amidst the Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier Ajith Senadeera and all staff of Thalsevana Army Resort Kankasanturai on 17 November 2022.

The Army Welfare Shop of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) was relocated at Transit Camp - Kankasanthurei on 15 November 2022. The Welfare Shop was ceremonially opened by the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wijayasundara at the auspicious timing.
