Manpower and technical expertise of the Army and the patronage of a generous donor enabled the 551 Infantry Brigade troops to build a new house for a low income family in the general area of Puloly (West), Point Pedro and vested it with the beneficiaries in the presence of Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna).
Army-erected a new house for Ms Jayarupan Nandani with funds, allocated to the Army by Mrs Sheila Emmanuel through the coordination of Major General Ravi Rathnasingham (Retired).
Troops of the 551 Brigade provided much-needed manpower and technical expertise for the construction work under the supervision of the Commander 551 Brigade, Brigadier Chinthaka Wickramasinghe with the guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne. During a charming ceremony, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) symbolically handed over keys to the house recipient and gifted house appliances and school items to the deserving family.
Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North), Brigadier General Staff Security Forces (Jaffna), Senior Officers, Hon Joshep Iruthayarajah Mayor Point Pedro, Hon Charles Ariyakumar – Chairman Point Pedro Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr Alvaipillai Siri – Divisional Secretary Point Pedro with Government officials, other invitees and civilians also participated during the inaugural ceremony.
