On the conceptual guidance of General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratna and the supervision of Brigadier Wijayanath Jayaweera, the Commander 552 Infantry Brigade, the troops of 552 Infantry Brigade of the 55 Infantry Division of Security Forces (Jaffna), in continuation of its series of community assistance programmes conducted a Tamil Tai Pongal Day Celebration Programme entwined with a donation programme (worth about Rs:800,000.00) on 16th January 2023 at Public Bus Stand Premises Pallai.

This donation programme was held at 521 Infantry Brigade Headquarter premises on 14th January 2023.

513 Infantry Brigade successfully completed another humanitarian intervention once again and extended their technical, engineering and manpower support to build a new house to encourage a Player, who brought laurels to Victoria Collage Chullipuram, Jaffna. The Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Swarna Bothota graced the house warming ceremony and handed over the keys of the new house to Mrs. Selwarasa Kiristiga, who is a member of Under 19 Women’s National Cricket Squad on 06 January 2023.

A timely essential community programme was initiated in the area of Nagarkovil, Wadamarachchi East DS Division under the patronage of General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne on 01 January 2023, the New Year Day. To evoke blessing for the people in the area, a kovil pooja was organized at the most ancient Hindu kovil in Nagarkovil followed by a donation of dry ration packs to extremely necessitous people of 30 families each worth of Rs: 10,000.00 approximately. The Donation was received under the blessing of Miss Anaya Koswatta, who is residing in United State of America at present.

The 51 Infantry Division initiated another community - related programme on Christmas day by distributing gifts and sweets for children at various churches in Jaffna. The event was initiated by Major General Mahendra Fernando, former General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division with the guidance of Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, former Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and under the supervision of General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division, Major General Wajira Welagedara.

On 23rd December 2022, in the Hartley College auditorium in Point Pedro, the 551 Infantry Brigade and the Vadamaradchchi Catholic deanery collaborated on an artistic Christmas Carols programme that upheld the values of civil military relations. Colonel Jude Kariyakarawana Brigade Commander of 551Infantry Brigade oversaw preparations to ensure that the event was open to the local populace at large under the guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division Major General Prasanna Gunaratne. Major General Prasanna Gunaratne had grace the occasion as the chief guest and the guest of honour was the Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese, Reverend Father PJ Jebaratnam.

In coinciding with the Christmas festive celebrations, a programme for cleaning of St. Lucas Elders Home - Puttur and offering a lunch to senior citizens who are residing in the Elderly Home, was conducted by Officers/Other Ranks of 521 Infantry Brigade and 11th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 23rd December 2022. On the invitation of Colonel Indika Perera the Commander of 521 Infantry Brigade, Major General Sanjeewa Fernando the General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division participated for the event as the Chief Guest. Rev. Robart Shashikaran the Chief incumbent St. Lucas church and several catholic priests in the area also participated for the event as honorary guests.

In continuation of its series of community assistance programmes, 552 Infantry Brigade of 55 Infantry Division conducted a Christmas Carols Programme intertwined with a donation programme (worth about 1.6 mil rupees) under the supervision of Brigadier Wijayanath Jayaweera the Commander 552 Infantry Brigade under the guidance of Major General Prasanna Gunaratne the General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division on 20 December 2022, at Arogyamatha Church premises Muhamalei. The ceremony held in the presence of Most Reverend Dr Justin Bernard Gnanapragasam, the Bishop of Jaffna Diocese, in conjunction with Reverend Father S Anton Gorge of Arogyamatha Church.

In-line with monthly CIMIC programme, 511 Infantry Brigade and 15th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard organized a blood donation campaign at Kopay MOH premises on 20 December 2022 as one more community project. Medical Staff of the National Blood Bank branch in Jaffna assist the campaign at the Kopay MOH premises for the benefit of patients in Jaffna. More than 100 blood donors participated in the blood donation campaign including Officers, Other Ranks and civil staff of 51 Infantry Division. The programme was organized with the supervision of Major General Wajira Welagedara, General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division.
