33RD COLOR BLESSINGS CEREMONY AT KATHARAGAMA

Ceremonies to invoke blessings on the President’s and the Regimental colours of the Gemunu watch ,1st ,2nd, and 3rd Battalion of the Gemunu watch were held at Katharagama Kiriwehera and Katharagama Dewalaya on the 30th and 31st of August 2013. Presenters on these occasions were the Colonel of the Regiment Major General LBR Mark RSP USP ndu .the Centre Commandant and large numbers of senior officers , junior officers , SNCOs , NCOs soldiers both the services and retired of the Gemunu Watch and members of their families.

18TH CONTINGENT OF SRI LANKA BLUE BERETE READY TO LEAVE SRI LANKA

The passing out parade of the 18th Sri Lankan contingent of United Nation Peace Keeping Mission to Haiti (MINUSTAH) was held at Regimental Headquarters Kuruvita on 11 September 2013. Maj Gen LBR Mark RSP USP ndu Commander SFHQ (Mulathive) and Col of the Regiment of the Gemunu watch graced the occasion as the chief Guest. Centre Comdt and Senior officers of the three services were presented.

18 GEMUNU SOLDIERS ORGANIZE DANSALA FOR PATHTHINI AMMAN TEMPLE DEVOTEES

[News courtesy : www.cimicjaffna.lk -2013-06-25] Annual festival of Kovilakkandy Paththini Amman Temple was held on 21st June. Commanding Officer and the troops of the 18th Gemunu Watch (18 GW) serving in Thanankilappu, who participated in the festival on invitation of the Kovil authority, offered snacks and soft drinks for nearly 800 devotees present to offer Pooja to the deity on the festival day. On instruction of the Commanding Officer 18 GW Lieutenant Colonel Sampath Bulathgama, soldiers prepared the temple site for the Pooja cleaning it in a shramadana organized prior to the festival.

17 GW SOLDIERS OFFER SOFT DRINKS TO PILGRIMS

[News courtesy : www.cimicjaffna.lk 2013-06-23 ] Soldiers of the 17th Gemunu Watch (17 GW) in Kayts island on the Vesak Full Moon day offered soft drinks at Dansala to all who crossed the island to Nagadeepa (Nainathivu). They had organized Dansala at three places in the island, Punguduthiv, Karampan junction and Velanai. Thousands of pilgrims and people living in those areas got their thirst quenched at Dansalaorganized by the 17 GW soldiers.

14 GW ENTERTAINS CHILDREN AT “VAAZVAHAM” IN CHUNNAKAM

[News courtesy : www.cimicjaffna.com -2014-02-24] Children at “Vaazhvaham”, home for visually handicapped in Chunnakam had a day full of fun with soldiers when solders of 14th Gemunu Watch (14 GW) visited their home recently. On directives of Commander Security Force – Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Udaya Perera, Commander 513 Brigade Brigadier Priyantha Perera and Commanding Officer 14 GW Lieutenant Colonel M.G.G.W. Rohana took the 14 GW Calypso with which inmates of Vaazvaham sang and danced on February 16th.

Inter Battalion Novices Athletics Meet – 2014 was held on 25th and 26th of September in Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa International ground. Morethan 400 Athletes participated for the Athletics meet.\r\n\r\nColonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch Major General PUS Vithanage RSP Graced the Occasion as the chief guest on 26th September 2014.

Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch Major General PUS Vithanage RSP Graced the Occasion as the chief guest on 26th September 2014. Council Members,Senior Officers and Officers of the Gemunu watch contributed by participation to cheers for the Athletes. 9TH INTER BATTALION ATHLETICS MEET

The 9th Inter-Battalion Athletics meet of the Gemunu Watch which was scheduled to be held at the Seewali MMV ground on 17,18 & 19 June 2013, had to be postponed due to bad weather. It was subsequently, held on the 18th & 19th of June at the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksha stadium.\r\n\r\nApproximately 500 athletes from 25 Battalions participated. All events were worked out over two days. The final events and the closing ceremony were held in the distinguished presence of the Chief Guest and Colonel of the Regiment, Major General L B R Mark RSP, USP, ndu on 19th of June.

5 GW NEW SWIMMING POOL OPENED

[News courtesy :www.army.lk -2014-02-27] The newly constructed swimming pool of the 5 Gemunu Watch (GW) headquarters at Warunagama, Wellawaya was opened recently during a brief ceremony. The swimming pool, built at a cost of Rs 1 million could now be used by all ranks serving the 12 Division under the Security Force Headquarters, Central (SFHQ-C). It is to be kept available for the use of civilians too shortly.
