THE GEMUNU WATCH VESAK COMMEMORATIONS

All officers and Other Ranks of the Gemunu Watch extended their fullest cooperation to make the annual Vesak celebrations a huge success and a most memorable event. Special Vesak arrangements, conducted with state patronage at Regimental HQ premises and Vesak lantern competitions were also held on the day following the Vesak Poya day. These events were inaugurated by the Centre Commandant, Brig MASK Muhandiram. A Bodhi Pooja on Vesak day (24) at the same venue added sacred aura to the arrangements at Regimental HQ.

WAR HERO WITH IMPAIRED SIGHT MOVES INTO NEW ASVU GIFTED HOME

One more new house with sponsorship, provided by Gemunu Watch (GW) Seva Vanitha Unit and Villagers of Mureththettuwa was handed over to the disable War Hero, Private A.M.Ajith Kumara during a simple ceremony in Muruththettuwa, Dehiowita on Wednesday (23). At the invitation of Mrs Rukmani Mark, Chairperson, GW Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit graced the hand-over ceremony as the chief guest.

ADVENTURE PROGRAMME TRAINING DAY 2016

The Adventure programme event of Training Day the Gemunu Watch for the year 2016 was held at Kuragala , Samanalawewa and Nonpareil Estate on 18 January 2016. It was commenced with morning hiking to Kuragala mountain and next visiting Samanalawewa dam and finally Nonpareil estate There were three educative stages during the morning and evening session. Also at evening dinars club lecture conduct by Dr Sarath Aananda and the program was terminated with officers get-together program meat Nonpareil estate holiday bungalows.

COLOUR AWARDING CEREMONY RHQ GW - 2015

Regimental Centre The Gemunu Watch had Colours Awarding ceremony on 19 January 2015 Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen PUS Vithanage RSP ndu as the Chief Guest .The awarding ceremony at Regimental Headquarters auditorium , presented colours to 4 officers and 39 other rankers of the Gemunu Watch who did exceptionally well in the fields of athletics, cricket, swimming, football, wheelchair tennis, combat firing, air rifle firing ,karate, rugby, power lifting, bodybuilding . In addition, merit certificates, achievement certificates, were also awarded to the recipients.

PASSING OUT PARADE

The Passing out Parade of the Recruit Training Course No 55 of the GW Training School Diyathalawa was held at the 1 GW Parade Square on 17 august 2013. The Chief Guest, Colonel AADNSP Dunuwila RWP RSP, Director, Ranawiru Seva Services, Army HQ, took the salute. The highlight of the occasion was the Drill Parade , Gymnastics and Karate Display performed by the recruits and their instructors. The Chief Guest gave away the awards to the prize winners. S/74750 Rec Dayananda WDTDSN won the award for the Best Recruit. Prize winners 1. Best Platoon – No: Five (5) Platoon

PASSING - OUT PARADE

The Passing-Out Parade of the Recruits of Course No 12 of the Gemunu Watch Training School, Kuruwita, was held on 02 May 2013 in an imposing military ceremony at the 1GW parade ground, Diyathalawa.\r\n\r\nThe Chief Guest,Lieutenant colonel JMC Jayaweera psc, Commanding Officer of the Officer Cadet Wing, Sri Lanka Military Academy took the salute at the Passing-Out Parade.\r\n\r\nA Drill Display, Gymnastics and Karate Display, together with a musical show that was organized in the evening, were presented by the Recruits and their Instructors The Chief Guest gave away the Award for the Best Rec

BATTALIONS VISITS OF THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT

[Click to magnify/shrink] Upon assuming duties as Colonel of the Regiment, Major General L.B.R. Mark RSP NDU, USP, visited the Regular and Volunteer Battalions of the Gemunu Watch. During these visits the Colonel of the Regiment was briefed of Battalion deployments and their present duties. He addressed all troops and briefed them on the current responsibilities undertaken by the Army. The Colonel of the Regiment inspected Camp areas and participated in a tree planting ceremony to mark his visits to the Battalions.

DONATION PROGRAMME CONDUCTED BY THE GEMUNU SEVA WANITHA BRANCH

The donation programme conducted by the Gemunu Seva Wanitha Branch on 02 June 2017 at the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Regimental auditorium with the patronage Mrs Monika Vithanage the president of the Gemunu Seva Wanitha Branch and Doner Mrs D G Chalet with other Senior members and members of the Gemunu Seva Wanitha Branch . During the programme Doner Mrs D G Chalet donated artificial leg ,worth of Rs 56270.00 for the beneficial for disabled war hero S/419002 Cpl Kahandawala KAPH- 6th Battalion the Gemunu Watch.
