GEMUNU WATCH VICTORY IN NOVICES ATHLETIC MEET -2014

Gemunu Watch athletes come up with stunning performance to crowned as the Champions in The Sri Lanka Army Inter Regiment Novices Athletic Meet – 2014, Which Was Held On 23rd And 24th June at the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksha International athletic Stadium. Athletes of GW able aggregate total 147 points and presented with 09 gold medals ,11 silver medals , 09 bronze medal respectively. Relay team of Gemunu Watch set new games record in 04x800m event while Pte Sisira Kumara NG capturing gold medal for hammer throw with new record.

HIGHLANDERS GEE MIYESIYA AND LOTTERY DRAW 2013

The Highlanders Gee Miyesiya and Lottery Draw was organized to raise funds for the Gemunu Watch. It was held on 28 September 2013 at the Regimental Sports facility in Kuruwita The Chief Guest on this occasion was the Commander of SF HQ (Mulativu) and Colonel of the Regiment of The Gemunu Watch, Major General LBR Mark RSP USP ndu. Well Wishers and Donors who made generous contributions to make this event a great success, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and their families, and a significant number of the general public were present at this event.

LT COL AMA ABEYWARDHANA WWV RSP ASSUMES DUTIES AS COMMANDING OFFICER OF 24TH BATTALION THE GEMUNU WATCH

LATE MAJOR GENERAL UDUMALAGALA’S FUNERAL WITH MILITARY HONOURS TAKES PLACE ON WEDNESDAY (30)

[News courtesy : www.army.lk -2013-10-29] The military funeral of late Major General Susil Udumalagala (Rtd) RSP Ldmc of Gemunu Watch, Sri Lanka Army takes place on Wednesday (30) at Galle Samanala esplanade with full honours. He passed away on Thursday (24) night after a long illness. Major General Udumalagala, who had served a number of key appointments in the Army before his retirement last February joined the Army on 6 February 1980 and received commissions as a Second Lieutenant on 18 July 1981.

RETIRING MAJOR GENERAL P U S VITHANAGE RSP ndu ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE

Major General P U S Vithanage RSP ndu, the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch retired from the active service on 05 June 2017 after completing 36 years of successful service in Sri Lanka Army. The Gemunu Watch organized a farewell on Sunday (04 June 17) to one of the proud sons of the Gemunu Watch, Major General P U S Vithanage RSP ndu ,Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch who has rendered an exemplary service to both the organization and the country during a formal military ceremony at Regimental Headquarters, Kuruwita on the eve of his retirement from the Army.

GOWRI TO ENTER COLLEGE OF EDUCATION GETS GIFTS FROM ARMY

Commanding Officer and a few soldiers of the 23rd Gemunu Watch (23 GW) visited the house of Sivanesathevari Gawri at Alippalai on Saturday 17th with a pack of essentials and a cash gift needed to continue her further education. Gowri was selected to National College of Education, Polgolla to follow a professional training course which will qualify her to become a teacher. However, her family could not afford to buy some basic items she would need.

NEW MASTER GENERAL ORDNANCE BEGINS WORK

Major General L.B.R Mark assumed duties as the new Master General Ordnance at Master General Ordnance (MGO) Branch at Army Headquarters on Friday (10). Major General Mark was the former Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) before he was appointed to this new appointment at Army Headquarters. Major General Mark during his tenure as Mullaittivu Commander launched a number of projects for the best interests of the people at Mullaittivu by way of reconciliation, reconstruction, rehabilitation, resettlement and a number of other humanitarian projects.

MULLAITTIVU STUDENTS GET NEW YEAR GIFTS

With financial support of the ‘Gunajaya Sathuta’ foundation, students of low-income families in Mullaittivu educational zone received 250 gift parcels containing school essentials. Each parcel was worth of Rs 4000 and the distribution was done during a brief ceremony, headed by Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, Security Force Headquarters, Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on Tuesday (31). During the programme, students who don’t have electricity facility at their houses received 500 solar power rechargeable bulbs.

MATARA SOLDIERS PROMOTED TO NEXT RANK

Sri Lanka Army on the instructions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake promoted all four soldiers who rescued the lives of two children who had been thrown into the Nilwala river by their father during the past weekend. Accordingly, Lance Corporal S.S Manage, Private E.H De Silva, Private H.K.C Madushanka, all three from Matara-based 3 Gemunu Watch (GW) and Private K.M.P.S Pushpakumara of Engineer Service Regiment (ESR), have been promoted to their next rank in appreciation of their acts of bravery.
