\"RANAVIRU REAL STAR MISSION III\" GLITTERS SUGATHADASA INDOOR STADIUM

\"Ranaviru Real Star Mission III\" that went on boards at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium last evening (27) to a packed crowd of music fans selected Sri Lanka Air Force Leading Aircraft Woman, Thushani Perera as the final ‘Real Star’, making both Army contenders to be first and second runners-up. \"Real Star Mission III \" winner is to receive a new house, worth about Rs 8 million as the gift. Runners-up will receive a car and cash prizes for their respective 2nd and 3rd slots in the programme. However, the 4th runner-up was also from the Army.

RHQ BATTALION THE GEMUNU WATCH CELEBRATES ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY

RHQ Battalion The Gemunu Watch celebrated its 20th anniversary with participating all officers and other rankers on 18 September 2013. Before the day of anniversary, religious ceremony was conducted in Sabaragamuwa Maha Saman Dewalaya at Rathnapura. On following day to Commemoration events commenced with tributes to the War Heroes at the war heroes monument and evening time for the occasion of anniversary was comprise with Bodhi Puja.

PAKISTAN CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF NOW IN SRI LANKA ON TOUR CALLS ON COMMANDER

Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila, HI (M) L’Honneur NI (M), Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan, now in Sri Lanka at the invitation of the Navy, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on Friday (13) afternoon at Army Headquarters. Major General L.B.R. Mark, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullativu, Brigadier D.T. Gamage, Director Personnel Administration of Army Headquarters received the visiting Navy Chief of Pakistan and ushered him to the Commander’s Office.

Corporal Gunasekara KGN of Sri Lanka Army (4th Bn the Gemunu Watch), emerged champion(75 Kg) at the National Amateur Body Building Championship 2013 which was conducted by the Sri Lanka Body Building and Fitness Federation (SLBBFF) at the Jayasinghe Memorial Theatre, Dehiwala. S/422792 Lans Corporal Wickramasinghe GGN (6th Battalion the Gemunu Watch)won silver in - 55Kg Weight class

Colonel N R Lamahewage RWP RSP, Commander 141 Brigade paid a visit to the Headquarters of the 3rd (Volunteer) Battalion of The Gemunu Watch During the visit to his TAOR, After assuming his duties as Commander 141 Brigade . On his arrival to the Headquarters of the 3rd (Volunteer) Battalion of The Gemunu Watch Lieutenant Colonel M K Thushara, the Commanding Officer received Colonel N R Lamahewage RWP RSP and a guard turnout was inspected at main entrance.

Guard Turnout was accorded to new Centre Commandant. Religious ceremonies and placing of flower wreath to fallen war heroes’ monument were taken place prior to take over of duties.

CHAMPION ATHLETE - S/417036 SGT GUNATHILAKA KMNG

Kuruppu Mudiyanselage Nandana Jagath Gunthilaka joined the SL Army on 31 March 2005 and participated in the Recruit Course No 14 at the Gemunu Watch. Training Centre Diyathalawa. After passing out from the Trg Centre he was deployed to the 4th Bn the Gemunu Watch Sgt Gunathilaka, a Hurdler represented the Regt, SL Army and SL at Athletic meets held in Sri Lanka and overseas. His achievements are as follows. National Championship – 2011 – 400m Hurdle 2nd (52.2 Sec) National Games – 2011 – 400m Hurdle 1st (52.1 Sec) Army Inter Regt Athletic meet - 2011 - 400m Hurdle 1st (52.3 Sec)

REGIMENTAL CENTRE THE GEMUNU WATCH CELEBRATED ITS 26TH ANNIVERSARY

Regimental Centre The Gemunu Watch celebrated its 26th anniversary with a series of ceremonies which culminated in the Regimental Day Parade accorded to the Colonel of the Regiment Major General LBR Mark RSP USP ndu on 19 March 2014. The celebrations commenced with the all Religious event. War heroes of the Regiment were honored with a vigil ceremony at the Monument in Regimental Centre on 19 March. Event was followed by an All Ranks lunch and Dinner Night at WOs’ and Sgts’ mess precedence With Colonel of the Regiment.
