The Security Forces commander , Security Force headquarters Mullattivu Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP psc assumed duties as the 13th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch on 10 June 2017 amidst religious observances at the office of the Regimental Headquarter, The Gemunu Watch Kuruwita.

Representing Sri Lanka at the 47th Asian Body Building Championship Tournament, S/427317 Lance Corporal M.W.R Jayasundera of the 6th Battalion the Gemunu Watch won silver in the 55 kg weight category. The prestigious international tournament was held in Kazakhstan. Lance Corporal Jayasundara came second in a keenly fought competition beating 22 other bodybuilders from Asian nations. A Gold medal was secured by Wasantha Peiris of Wattala Atlas Sports Club in the 55 kg category.

Maj Gen PUS Vithanage RSP has assumed the duties as the Col of the Regt of the Gemunu Watch on 21 May 2014 after the retirement of Major General LBR Mark RSP USP ndu. A Guard turnout and a Ceremonial Parade with Regimental Colours ware awarded to the incoming Col of the Regt. A Family members of Maj Gen PUS Vithanage and large number of Senior Officers of the Regiment participated with their spouses to mark the event. All Officers and Other Ranks of the Gemunu Watch wish all the success to Major General PUS Vithanage RSP in his all future endeavors.

The 3rd (Vol) Bn of the Gemunu Watch celebrated its 48th. Battalion Day on 1st September 2013 at their Battalion Headquarters in Matara. To commemorate this event, the Battalion organized a Pirith Chanting Ceremony on 31st Aug 2013, a Guard Turnout and Parade for the Commanding Officer and an All Ranks lunch on 1st Sep 2013. The Colonel of the Regiment, Officers & All Ranks of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch wish the C O , Officers & All Ranks of the 3rd Bn of The Gemunu Watch all success in future endeavours.

The 16 Battalion of the Gemunu Watch celebrated its 5th Anniversary on 9 May 2013 at their Battalion Headquartersin Kankesanthurai (KKS). The Battalion organized Inter- Company Cricket, Volley Ball & Soccercompetitions and awarded prizes to the winners. On 9th May the Battalion held a ceremonial parade for the Commanding Officer. This was followed by an All Ranks lunch. A Musical Show was organized in the evening under the guidance of the present Commanding Officer, Major N U Wedaarachchi.
