The team of The Gemunu Watch (1x8) who is represented the Sri Lanka Army ,conclude The Amazon Military Command 2nd International Patrol Competition whichwas conducted at the Jungle Warfare Training School (CIGS), Manaus, Brazil, from August 16-26. Teams from Brazil’s Amazon Military Command, the North Military Command, the Brazilian Navy and Air Force, as well as teams from Canada, China, East Timor, Germany and Mexico, also participated in the competition,Each team comprised 10 members.

The 36th color blessing ceremony of The Gemunu watch was held on15 August 2016, covering all the Sacred places of Kiriwehera Katharagama , Kataragama Dewalaya and Ashta Pala Bodhiya under the patronage of the Maha Sanga and Col of the Regt Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu.

The Training Day of the Gemunu Watch for the first quarter of year 2016 was held at the Regimental Centre premises on 20 January 2016. It was commenced with morning PT and a drill session for the junior officers. There were three educative presentations conducted by 5 GW, 23 GW and 24 GW during the morning session.

The colour blessing ceremony of the Gemunu watch on15 August 2015 , was held at the Kiriwehera Katharagama under the patronage of the Maha Sanga and Col of the Regt Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu. flags of the Regular and Volunteer battalions across the country that symbolize the dignity of the Gemunu Watch and all servicemen, were conducted in procession by representative officers of each unit The Maha Sanga chanted Seth Pirith invoking blessings for colours of the Gemunu Watch . followed of an alms giving on16 August 2015 to conclude the event.

The Minipura Gemunu Nada and Lottery Draw was organized to raise funds for the Gemunu Watch. It was held on 03 September 2016 at the Regimental Centre Play Ground. The Chief Guest on this occasion was the Commander of SF HQ (Mulativu) and Colonel of the Regiment of The Gemunu Watch, Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu .

The team of The Gemunu Watch (1x8) is representing the Sri Lanka Army for the 2nd International Patrol Competition held in Brazil from 15 Aug 16 to 26 Aug 16.The competition offered to the Sri Lanka Army by Military Command of Amazon Headquarters in Manaus, Brazil.The competition includes typical test in Jungle environment and other typically military training activities like shoots, guidance and obstacle courses in Amazon jungle.

Col JDA Gunasekara visit to 3rd Battalion The Gemunu Watch on 19th August 2016 after taking over of his duties as new Brigade Commander of 581 Bde He was warmly received by the Commanding Officers and All Ranks at their respective premises.

The Gemunu Watch won the Inter Regiment combat shooting competition 2016 held at 1000m Range - Diyatalawa from 24 August 2016 to 31 August 2016. The Gemunu watch won the 1st place from novices event and runner-up from the open event.\r\n

Matters pertaining to the development and administration of the Regiment was deliberated under the chairmanship of Maj Gen PUS Vithanage RSP ndu the Colonel of The Regt of The Gemunu Watch and all council members.
