Flood and Landslip relief operations undertaken by Army troops of the Gemunu Watch in worst-affected Kalawana and Kirialla of Ratnapura District, coordinated another ‘Susarana Lanka Social Development Foundation ’ initiated relief programme and assisted the distribution of dry ration parcels, sanitary items, drinking water bottles and school accessories on Monday (19) at Kalawna Model Primary Vidyalaya premises - Hagarangala, general area Epitawala – Thanthiriwaththa village and Badabathdara .

Under the instruction of the Commander of the Army, troops of the Gemunu Watch newly renovated the main building at R/ Kalawana Model Primary School symbolically handed over to school children by the Commander Security Force Headquarters (Centre) and Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu during a brief ceremony at 0900 hrs on Thursday ( 05) May 2017. The Colonel of the Regiment opened newly renovated building while ‘Seth Pirith’ chanted by Maha Sangha Ven Kukulu Nawadun Dekoorale Adikarana Sanganayake , Kukulegama Sumana Nayake Thero .

The Gemunu Watch proudly celebrated the New year festival on 07th April 2017. Major General PUS Vithange RSP ndu the Colonel of the Regiment and Commander of The SFHQ (Cen) grace the occasion as the chief guest..\r\n\r\nAfter hoisting of the National and Regimental flag by the Colonel of the Regiment and Centre commandant of The Gemunu Watch. respectively, the proceeding of the event formally commenced. \r\n\r\nNumber of traditional dancing events, games were organised and traditional ‘‘Gemi Gedara’’ (ගැමි ගෙදර) were added glamour to the event.

Gemunu Watch Ex Serviceman Regimental Association (GWESRA) annual meeting was held at the Regimental Center premises of the Gemunu Watch on 26 March 2017 with the participation of GWESRA President Brigadier Hiran N Halangode (Retired) RWP RSP USP, executive members and large no of other ex servicemen of the association. The Commandant Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch and other senior staff officers of Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch also presented at the event the members were welcomed by the staff of the Regimental Centre at the main entrance to the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch.

With the devout invitation of the Centre Commandant, Kagama Sirinanda thero conducted a fruitful sermon upon a Righteous society at the Regimental Centre auditorium on 17 Jan 2017. More than 500 participants were present for the session.

A Stone Statue God Sumana Saman Sculpture which is donated by donor Mr. K C Pushpakumara has laid up inside the God Sumana Saman fane in the load Buddha shirin premises at Regimental Headquarters at auspicious time on 31 Mar 2017. The inaugurating ceremony was preside by the Col of the Regiment Maj Gen P U S Vithanage RSP ndu. The sculpture was laid up after the one month of homage service in Daraniyagala God Sumana Saman fane and it was took in procession to Regimental Headquarters premises with a colorful procession.

The Gemunu Watch proudly Trooping the Colour Ceremony in the first time in history of Gemunu Watch as well as in the Sri lanka Army history on 29th April 2017.

In addition to the UN Vesak celebration, 11th Sri Lanka Peace Keeping Force (SLPKF) in Lebanon organized celebration of vesak day at UNIFIL camp Lebonan on15 may 2107 with the participation on Sri Lankan ambassador to Lebanon. The Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Peace Keeping Force welcomed the Chief Guest of the opening ceremony, she was delivered a speech under the topic of \"UN Vesak Day\". After that all troops were listening to the speech delivered by HE the president Maithripala Sirisena. Venerable Madawachchiye Sumeda Thera conducted Dharma Deshana to all devotees.

The newly renovated Lt Col W Wimaladasa\'s house was declared open at the auspicious time by the Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen PUS Vithanage RSP ndu on 31st May 2017.
