The foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of the new two storied accommodation building for the Commanding Officers of the Gemunu Watch took place at regimental headquarters on Saturday (20). The Colonel of the Regiment Major General KPA Jayasekera WWV RSP USP ndc psc at the auspicious minute laid the foundation stone as the Chief Guest. The event was attended Center Commandant, Commanding officers, staff officers and other rankers of the Gemunu Watch.

The Gemunu Watch is one of the most experienced elite Infantry Regiments in Sri Lanka Army, organizes fund raising project named “ Minipura Gemunu Nada Trade Exhibition and Carnival” annually in order to assist differently able war heroes and their families. This year it was held in a grand scale at Regimental Centre Ground on 28 & 29 September 2018.

A felicitation ceremony for Major General W H M Manatunga was held at the Regiment Centre on the occasion of his promotion to the rank of Major General. The traditional event unfolded on 12 October 2018 at Regimental Centre, Kuruwita with the participation of a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other ranks.

The General Officer Commanding of 22 Infantry Division, Major General KPA Jayasekera WWV RSP USP ndc psc assumed duties as the 24th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch on 06 October 2018 at the office of the Regimental Centre, The Gemunu Watch Kuruwita.

The Gemunu Watch ‘Colours Night - 2018’ was held for the first time in the Regiment history at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo on Wednesday evening, 12 September 2018.

Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake grace the occasion and as the Chief Guest accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment GW, Major General Dampath Fernando replete with military traditions and entertainment.

Officers Training Day of the Gemunu Watch is intended to improve the Officers’ knowledge on Military and Non Military subjects which presumed as inevitable to enhance the professionalism of the Officers. The second session of Training Day of the year 2018 was held on 10 August 2018 at the Regimental Centre with the participation of Senior and Middle Grade GW Officers.

The Regiment Centre the Gemunu Watch organized awareness programe on Social Media Networks on 30 July 2018 at the regiment lecture hall as per the direction of the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP psc.

The Guest Speaker was Maj T D T Wijesinghe from 12 Sri Lanka Signal Corps on the request made by Regiment Centre.

The traditional event unfolded on 11 July 2018 at Regimental Centre, Kuruwita with the participation of a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other ranks.

A farewell ceremony for Major General G J A W Galagamage was held at the Regiment Centre on the occasion of his retirement after completion of 33 years of successful service in Sri Lanka Army.

Major General Athula Galagamage was born on 16 June 1963 at Wellawatta and he completed his school education from Gunananda Primary School - Kotahena and De La Salle College - Mutwel. Being a School and National level Basket Ball player, he has been recognized as an icon of excellence in academics and noteworthy alumna of the De La Salle College.

The welcome ceremony for newly appointed 18 th Centre Commandant Brigadier K Prematilake RWP RSP was held on 4th June 2018 at the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch. The event was unfolded as follows.
