“ MINIPURA GEMUNU NADA ” LOTTERY DRAW - 2020

The Gemunu Watch is one of the most experienced elite Infantry Regiments in Sri Lanka Army, organizes fund raising project named “ Minipura Gemunu Nada Trade Exhibition and carnival ” annually in order to assist differently able war heroes and their families. This year scheduled to held in a grand scale at Monarawila Ground- Ratnapura on 3,4 and 5 April 2020. Due to unfavorable health condition it was cancelled.

OPENING OF COLOUR CHAMBER - REGIMENTAL CENTRE THE GEMUNU WATCH

1st ,2nd (V) and 3rd (V) Battalions of the Gemunu Watch were awarded with the Presidents’ Colours and Regimental Colours for loyal and distinguished services rendered to the nation with the highest level of discipline, by His Excellency the Late JR Jayawardena, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka at the Public Ground in Galle on 15th August 1980.

SRI PADA SEASON STARTED; THE GEMUNU TROOPS PARTICIPATED FOR RELIGIOUS CEREMONY AND PERAHERA FROM PALABADDALA TO SRI PADA

The Sri Pada pilgrimage season, annually from December to May was started on “Uduwap Full Moon Poya Day” with a religious ceremony held at the summit at Sri Pada Maluwa admonition of Sri Pada Chief Incumbent, Most Ven. Bengamuwe Sri Dammadinna Thero.

FELICITATION CEREMONY FOR MAJOR GENERAL S S WADUGE RWP RSP USP ndu psc

A felicitation ceremony for Major General S S Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc was held at the Regiment Centre on the occasion of his promotion to the rank of Major General. The event was unfolded on 29 November 2019 at Regimental Centre, Kuruwita with the participation of a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

NEW DGGS ASSUMES DUTIES

Major General T S Bangsajayah RWP RSP VSV USP ndu assumed duties on 20th Nov 19 as the new Director General General Staff (DGGS) at the army headquarters.

Religious observances of major dominations (Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic and Catholic) blessed at the new office before he formally signified the acceptance of the new appointment after placing his signature for a formal document.

FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR MAJOR GENERAL A A KODDIPPILY RWP RSP ndc

A farewell ceremony for Major General AA Koddippily RWP RSP ndc was held at the Regiment Centre on the occasion of his retirement after completion of over 34 years of successful service in Sri Lanka Army.The traditional event unfolded on 01 November 2019 at Regimental Centre, Kuruwita with the participation of a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.
