The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch president Mrs. Anusha Fernanndo and Members have visited Abimansala III at Pangolla as per the annual program of the Gemunu Seva Vanitha branch.

The Sri Pada pilgrimage season began on 3rd December 2017, Unduvap Poya Day with a traditional religious ceremony held at the summit under the auspices of the Pelmadulla Rajamaha Vihara and Sri Pada Chief Incumbent the Ven. Bengamuwe Dammadinna Thera.

The monthly meeting of the Gemunu Seva Wanitha Branch was held on 16 July 2017 at the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Regimental auditorium with the patronage of Mrs Anusha Fernando the president of the Gemunu Seva Wanitha Branch with other members of the Gemunu Seva Wanitha Branch. \r\n

This year the celebration of Vesak Day, organized by Regimental Headquarters of Gemunu Watch was held at the Kuruwita Camp on 10 to 14 May 2017 . The activities of this four(4) day event include; Sil programme, Dharma Deshana, Bodhipuja, Rice Dansal and a colourful display of Vesak Lanterns. Most venewable Madirigiriye Shantha Kiththi Thera conducted a whole day Atasil programme and delivered Dharma Deshana to well over 50 devotees .In addition to observing Atasil they participated in religions Dhamma secession, Meditation session, and Mal-Pahan and Bodhipuja ceremonies.

The annual family get-together of the Gemunu Watch retired and serving officers and their family members took place in Laya Beach Hotel on 27 August 2017. This yearly event is an initiative by Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP psc , the Deputy Chief of Staff and Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch, with the idea of strengthening regimental and family ties among the families of Gemunu Watch officers.

Officers Training Day of the Gemunu Watch is intended to improve the Officers’ knowledge on Military and Non Military subjects which presumed as inevitable to enhance the professionalism of the officers. For this endeavor the assistance of the Academic and Intellectuals is significant. The first session of Training Day of the year was held on 21 July 2017 at the Regimental Headquarters premises with the participation of Senior and Middle Grade officers.

As per the direction given by the Quarter Master General’s Branch of Army Headquarters the Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch directed to conduct an awareness program on road discipline and related issues to the Army drivers.

The Gemunu Watch players( Highlanders ) defeated Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (Wagonners ) Team by 2 - 0 on the final tussle on Inter-Regiment Football Championship Wednesday (09 ) evening at Colombo Race Course grounds. From the beginning of the game both the teams entered very strong way to make favorable position against their own regiment name. As result, in the first half of the game score read as 0-0.

The Regimental Headquarters of the Gemunu watch celebrated 2nd day of Vesak festival at Kuruwita camp on 11 May 2017. Dr. Upali Karunasiri and Dr. Parakum Karunasiri , Lighting the 2nd day Vesak Lanterns. Those colorful displays of various shapes and sized were created on the themes representing the life of Load Buddha. Guests of the day inaugurated \"Bun and Coriander Dansala\" for local people held at vehicle parking.
