GW TROOPS, TOGETHER WITH ‘SUSARANA LANAKA SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDATION ’ CONTINUING OF DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF PACKAGES

Flood and Landslip relief operations undertaken by Army troops of the Gemunu Watch in worst-affected Ayagama of Ratnapura District, coordinated another ‘Susarana Lanka Social Development Foundation ’ initiated relief programme and assisted the distribution of dry ration parcels on Tuesday (20) at general area Ayagama .

ELICITATION CEREMONY FOR MAJOR GENERAL A A Koddippily RWP RSP ndc

A felicitation ceremony was held to express congratulations and respect for Major General A A Koddippily RWP RSP ndc who was promoted recently to the rank of Major General in his career as Gemunu Officer. The customary event unfolded on 24th June 2017 at Regimental Headquarters premises, Kuruwita with the participation of a large number of senior officers, officers and other ranks.

THE GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH MEMBERS VISITED ABIMANSALA 1 AT ANURADHAPURA ON 02 APRIL 2017

The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch president Mrs. Monika Vithanage and Members have visited Abimansala I at Anuradhapura as per the annual program of the Gemunu Seva Vanitha branch. \r\n\r\nDuring the visit, the President and members of Gemunu Seva Vanitha branch interviewed inmates, soldiers and they were able to solve their number of issues. As well as gift packs were donated to the inmates, soldiers of the Abimansala by the President Mrs. Monika Vithange with executive members of Gemunu Seva Vanitha branch.

ARMY TROOPS CONTINUE TO MAN POST-DISASTER RELIEF PROJECTS

The Gemunu troops, still continuing with their assistance to some of the worst-affected areas during recent past flood and landslip areas in Rathnapura District with the support of the ven. Maha Sanga Thero and donors. The last two weeks ( From 1 June 2017 to 13 June 2107) the Regimental Centre, the Gemunu Watch organized number of donation programmes at different places in Rathnapura district.

DEVELOPING ATTITUDES OF SRI LANKAN ARMY SOLDIERS TO REDUCE ANTI SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

As per the vision of the Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch, was invited Chief Inspector H W Keerthi Jayantha a Training Instructor of Police In - service Unit Anuradhapura to conduct a visiting lecture on Developing Attitudes of Sri Lankan Army Soldiers To Reduce Anti Social Activities on 28 February 2017 at Regimental Lecture Hall premises. \r\n \r\nChief Inspector HW Keerthi Jayantha was welcomed by the Centre Commandant on behalf of the Gemunu Regiment and he declared a valuable half day programme for 28 Officers and 360 Other Ranks.

ADVENTURES OF HIGHLANDERS DURING INTER REGIMENT PRACTICAL RIFFLE MEET 2017

The 26TH of Inter Regiment Practical Riffle Meet was organized by Sri Lanka Army Small Arms Association (ASAA) and it was held from 20 to 29 of May 2017 at Diyatalawa Firing Range. The Highlander fires, in one of the most convincing victories made history securing the Inter Regiment Practical Riffle Meet for the 3rd consecutive year. The meet is mainly conduct as open and novices and 20 Regiments including Teeth, Support and Service arms were participated to achieve the trophy. The spectrum of victory of highlanders as follows.

ESTABLISHED THE ARMY STALL TO MARK THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF ST THOMAS COLLAGE BANDARAWELA

The Education, Science and Technology exhibition were held on 18, 19 and 20 May 2017 at St Thomas Collage premises at Banderawela to mark the 75th anniversary of the school. On the invitation of the school, AHQ has directed to the Gemunu Watch Regiment to establish the Army stall to give an idea for the school children and the other viewers of the Army history, former Army Commanders, Regiments, weapon and equipment using by the army during the peace support operation and the post war situation by displaying photos.

RELIEF AND RESCUE MISSION CONDUCTED DURING FLOOD AND LANDSLIDE AT RATHNAPURA DISTRICT

Rathnapura is one of the badly effected districts due to advers weather condition prevailing in the country. Most of the areas in Rathnepura district have been inundated due to flood specially in Kahengama, Kuruwita, Rathnapura (around town area), Hangamuwa, Moragahayata, Mudduwa, Kudugalwaththa, Parakaduwa, Ehaliyagodaand Kalawana.Thousands of civilians have displaced and heavy damaged were reported to the propoties. Number of people have lost their life due the landslide occurred in Ehaliyagodahe, Kiribathgala Kanda.
