FELICITATION CEREMONY FOR MAJOR GENERAL T S BANGSAJAYAH RWP RSP USP ndu

A felicitation ceremony for Major General T S Bangsajayah RWP RSP USP psc was held at the Regiment Centre on the occasion of his promotion to the rank of Major General. The traditional event unfolded on 11 July 2018 at Regimental Centre, Kuruwita with the participation of a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other ranks.

Major General Suraj Bangsajayah was born on 03 August 1965 and completed his school education from St. Benadic College Kotahena. Major General Suraj Bangsajaya joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 01 Octobers 1985 to the Officer Cadet Intake SSC 07. After successful completion of the basic military training, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 31 May 1986 and posted to prestigious 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch. He has held many command appointments in unit line such as Platoon Commander, Company Commander and Second in Command. He Commanded 1/9 Battalion of the Gemunu Watch and had excelled his service during difficult time as a Commanding Officer in 1/9 GW.

During his tour of duty, he achieved many qualifications from both local and overseas few of the foreign courses and are as mentioned bellowed:

  • Junior Command Course - India

  • Senior Command Course - India

  • Defenceand Strategic Studies Course - China

Further, Major General Suraj Bangsajayah had immensely contributed to the Army with his proficiency in both Command and Staff aspects. He had proved himself as an icon of excellence by holding some of the key Command, Staff and Instructional appointments in his military career as mentioned below.

Major General T S Bangsajayah RWP RSP USP ndu presently holds the appointment of Commandant, Infantry Training Center, Minneriya and was privileged to perform duties as Defence Advisor to Sri Lanka Embassy at Beiging, China.

Centre Commandant, Brigadier K Prematillake RWP RSP welcomed the Chief Gust and invited to review the Guard turnout at the entrance and accompanied to receive the salute of the proud, dignified military parade. Then, the ceremonial commemoration for fallen war heroes at the monument was taken place to make the event more traditional.

All Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment Centre extended their heartfelt gratitude to distinguished Senior Officers for his commitment and dedication to the Gemunu Watch and wished for a healthy, wealthy, peaceful and prosperous life.

Then the Chief Gust was accompanied to the lunch arranged at the Officers’ Mess. A special memento was presented to Major General T S Bangsajayah RWP RSP USP ndu by Colonel of the Regiment, Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP VSV psc in appreciation of his dedicated and committed service rendered to the Regiment.
