THE GEMUNU WATCH TEAMBECAME 6TH IN THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL PATROL COMPETITION IN BRAZIL
The team of The Gemunu Watch (1x8) who is represented the Sri Lanka Army ,conclude The Amazon Military Command 2nd International Patrol Competition whichwas conducted at the Jungle Warfare Training School (CIGS), Manaus, Brazil, from August 16-26. Teams from Brazil’s Amazon Military Command, the North Military Command, the Brazilian Navy and Air Force, as well as teams from Canada, China, East Timor, Germany and Mexico, also participated in the competition,Each team comprised 10 members.
The competition was held for 10 days completing 20events including shooting from a moving platform, team shooting, as well as seven events related to anti-smuggling, anti-illegal logging and annihilation operations, in the jungles of Manaus. Teams were tested three times daily and also at nights, teams were challenged to execute military jungle tactics and apply the relevant knowledge in the jungle environment.17x Teams participated for the event and the Gemunu Watch Patrol team which was represented the Sri Lanka Army became 6th in the overall competition.
