It is facilitate local people of the area to recover environmental damages caused by the 3 decades of war. The Catholic religious observances held at St. Josepha Cathedralâ at Anuradhapura on Tuesday (10) morning invoked blessings on the forthcoming 34th Regiment Day of Gajaba (Oct 14). Commemoration of War Heroes programme was held at the Gajaba Regimental Centre with participation of 238 families & relatives of fallen war heroes, on 13 October 2017.
The Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army and Col of the Gajaba Regiment, Maj Gen Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc was the Chief Guest of the event and he was warmly welcomed by the Col WHKS Peiris RWP RSP USP, the Centre Commandant the Gajaba Regiment. Many senior officers / officers and other rankers also participated in the occasion.

The Gajaba Regiment, commemorated its 34th Anniversary Day Saturday (14) morning by greeting a Guard Turnout in accordance with military formalities and awarded a magnificent and sententious parade.The day Chief Guest Maj Gen Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc, the Adjutant General of Sri Lanka Army and Col of the Gajaba Regiment, and he was received by Col WHKS Peiris RWP RSP USP, the Centre Commandant the Gajaba Regiment. The Parade Commander Lt Col SDKWMMI Weliwita RWP RSP USP psc reviewed the parade and presented by representative troops of 24 platoons including 28 officers and 746 other rankers
