  • HASH RUN OF THE 1ST TRIMESTER DREW TO END

    The first 'Hash Run' of event calendar 2025 of the Army War College (AWC) was Successfully held on 22 March 2025. The event aimed to enhance the physical strength blended with the camaraderie and Companionship of the Student officers of Senior Command Course 13, Junior Command Course 32 and Junior Staff Course 28.

  • Army War College Holds Successful Diners’ Club

    The Army War College concluded its first-trimester Diners’ Club on 1 March 2025, featuring a compelling speech by Major General DBSN Bothota (Retired) RWP RSP VSV USP. The speech, titled ‘Professionalism; why it matters’, captivated an audience of 203 officers representing the Senior Command Course - 13, Junior Command Course - 32, and Junior Staff Course -28 along with the faculty members and permanent staff.

  • JUNIOR COMMAND COURSE TRIUMPHS VICTORY OF ARMY WAR COLLEGE CRICKET TOURNAMENT

    The Army War College Cricket Tournament conducted during the first trimester of the year 2025, was a thrilling event that showcased the talents and sportsmanship, camaraderie and event planning skills where a series of 14 matches were played among 15 teams and concluded on 16th February 2025 at the college playground. The matches were scheduled in evenings allowing both players and spectators to actively participate without disturbing the training schedules.

  • STUDENT OFFICERS EMBARK ON ‘EX-HISTORY WATCH’ TO EXPLORE THE HISTORICAL PLACES IN THE VICINITY

    The student officers of Junior Staff Course (JSC 28) embarked on an enlightening excursion of ‘Ex-History Watch’, visiting some of Sri Lanka’s most significant archaeological and historical sites in the vicinity of Army War College on 12 February 2025. A total of 36 student officers participated in the journey. The Student Officers from friendly foreign countries representing India and Bangladesh who are presently following Junior Command Course (JCC32) also joined the visit thus gaining an international learning experience.

  • ARMY WAR COLLEGE WELCOMES NEW STUDENT OFFICERS FOR THE 2025 FIRST TRIMESTER

    The Army War College began its courses for the first trimester of 2025 with a significant opening session on 30 January 2025 marking the commencement of three pivotal training courses: Senior Command Course (SCC) 13, Junior Command Course (JCC) 32 and Junior Staff Course (JSC) 28. A total of 146 Student Officers enrolled, including one from Bangladesh, two from India and one from Zambia. To emphasize the importance of inter- services collaboration, two Officers from Sri Lanka Navy also enrolled in this trimester’s courses.

    The Army War College (AWC) proudly gathered to honour Major General T C M G S T Cooray RWP RSP USP ndc psc, the Commandant of the AWC and newly promoted ‘Two Star General’ in the Sri Lanka Army, received a formal Guard Turnout by the troops, on January 28, 2025 at AWC Buttala.

    Student Officers of Senior Command Course 12, currently undergoing training at the Army War College, Buttala, participated in an educational visit to the Sri Lanka Sugar Company (Pvt) Ltd, Pelwatta, on 26 December 2024. The visit was organized as a part of the course curriculum to enhance their understanding of industrial management, particularly focusing on human resource management to optimise the productivity with available resources.
