  • JUNIOR COMMAND COURSE 35 CONCLUDES EXERCISE WIPE OFF

    The Army War College (AWC) has successfully conducted Exercise Wipe Off, a key field training exercise in the academic calendar of Junior Command Course (JCC) 35, achieving its main objectives starting from 28 February 2026 to 4 March 2026. This Exercise strengthens the efforts of AWC to equip middle grade Officers with the practical application of knowledge and skills necessary for effective command and staff responsibilities.

  • STUDENT OFFICERS OF ARMY WAR COLLEGE PAID AN EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO THE SRI LANKA MILITARY ACADEMY

    Student Officers from the Senior Command Course 16 (SCC 16), comprising 51 Student Officers, and Junior Command Course 35 (JCC 35), comprising 91 Student Officers currently undergoing training at the Army War College (AWC) Buttala, embarked on an educational study visit to the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), Diyatalawa on 26 February 2026. The visit was organised as part of the course curriculum to enhance and refresh knowledge related to key military drills and procedures of the Sri Lanka Army.

  • ARMY WAR COLLEGE HOSTS THIRD BOARD OF MANAGEMENT MEETING

    The Army War College, Buttala, successfully convened its 3rd Board of Management meeting on 25 February 2026, presided over by Maj Gen DKSK Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, and deliberated on pivotal aspects of infrastructure development and modernization of teaching and learning processes, paving the way for enhanced operational efficacy.

  • DIRECTING STAFF EMERGES VICTORIOUS IN ARMY WAR COLLEGE CRICKET TOURNAMENT

    The Army War College Cricket Tournament conducted during the First Trimester of the year 2026, was a thrilling event that showcased the talents and sportsmanship, camaraderie and event planning skills where a series of 13 matches were played among 14 teams and concluded on 14 February 2026 at the college playground. The matches were scheduled in evenings allowing both players and spectators to actively participate without disturbing the training schedules.

  • SENIOR COMMAND COURSE 16 CONCLUDES COLOMBO STUDY TOUR

    The Student Officers of Senior Command Course (SCC) 16, the potential future Commanding Officers of the Sri Lanka Army, successfully concluded their scheduled study tour to Colombo on 10 February 2026. This visit facilitated first-hand exposure to the Directorate of Operations, the Directorate of Military Intelligence, and the Directorate of Personnel Administration at Army Headquarters, Battaramulla, followed by an industrial visit to Bodyline (Pvt) Ltd, Horana.

  • STUDENT OFFICERS OF SENIOR COMMAND COURSE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE EXERCISE GREAT WALL

    The Student Officers of Senior Command Course (SCC) 16, conducted by the Army War College, successfully completed Exercise GREAT WALL from 24 to 30 January 2026, a major exercise in their academic calendar.

    Dr. Sanath De Silva, Head of the Department of Strategic Studies at Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, delivered a captivating speech on ‘Modern Warfare Challenges and Opportunities’ at the Diners’ Club session of Army War College Buttala held on 22 January 2026. The event, attended by 146 Student Officers along with officers from the Sister Services and Foreign Officers from Bangladesh and Pakistan. The Commandant, together with all Faculty and Permanent Staff of the Army War College provided a platform for Dr. De Silva to share his expertise on the evolving nature of warfare in today’s complex security environment.

  • GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING 59 DIVISION INSPIRES FUTURE LEADERS AT ARMY WAR COLLEGE

    Major General MWS Millagala RWP RSP USP hdmc psc, General Officer Commanding of 59 Division, delivered a lecture on ‘Military Leadership’ at the Army War College (AWC) Buttala on 13 January 2026. The lecture, titled ‘Leadership Theories & Principles’, is a mandatory component of the course curriculum, and was attended by 146 Student Officers from the Senior Command Course 16 and Junior Command Course 35.

  • NEWLY APPOINTED DIRECTING STAFF FORMALLY INDUCTED AT THE ARMY WAR COLLEGE
