  • SENIOR COMMAND COURSE STUDENTS VISIT LANKA SUGAR COMPANY (PVT) LTD PELWATTE

    Student Officers of Senior Command Course (SCC) No 11 conducted an industrial visit to Lanka Sugar Company (PVT) Ltd, Pelwatte on 08 July 2024. The visiting delegation that consisted of the Student Officers of SCC 11 and Directing Staff was headed by the Acting Chief Instructor, Colonel THMDRM Peiris RSP psc.

    Consistent with the course curriculum, the Student Officers of Senior Command Course No 11 visited Mattala Rajapaksha International Airport (MRIA) and Hambanthota International Port (HIP) on 24 June 2024.   • AWC DRAWN THE SECOND HASH RUN 2024 TO THE END

    The second ‘Hash Run’ of event calendar 2024 of the Army War College (AWC) was successfully held on 29 June 2024. The event aimed to enhance the physical strength blended with the camaraderie and companionship of the Student Officers of Senior Command Course 11, Junior Command Course 30 and Junior Staff Course 26.

  • ARMY WAR COLLEGE CELEBRATES POSON FESTIVAL 2024

    The historic temple of “Sri Rahathankanda” hermitage situated in the close proximity of the Army War College (AWC) Buttala celebrated its annual “Poson Festival” facilitating a heavy influx of pilgrims visiting the colorful “Poson Zone” with the blessings of Chief Incumbent, Venerable Elpitiye Sumanarathana Thero for public viewing on 21 June 2024. The three-day “Poson Zone”, jointly organized by the Dayaka Sabawa (Board of lay trustees) of the temple together with the government institutions and the society in Buttala, righteously enhanced the thoughtful inclination of the religious community in the area. Having gone through the precedence of the involvements in the previous years, the AWC troops made their pious contributions and participation in the religious activities during the Poson Poya day programme and also to screen out eye catching lanterns and other celebrations in the “Poson Zone 2024”.

  • AWC DINERS' CLUB EMPOWERED JUNIOR LEADERS WITH PROFESSIONALISM TO BECOME GREAT ASSETS

    On 1 June 2024, the Army War College (AWC) hosted the second trimester Diners' Club with the participation of the Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Chief Instructor, Senior Instructors, faculty members, and the permanent staff along with 116 student officers from the Senior Command Course 11, Junior Command Course 30, and Junior Staff Course 26, including two foreign officers from friendly foreign countries; Australia and Zambia.

  • ARMY WAR COLLEGE CRICKET FIESTA CONCLUDED WITH MANY ACCOLADES

    Army War College (AWC) Cricket Tournament for second trimester was held on 26 May 2024 as one of the key events of course calendar that displayed skills, comradeship, sportsmanship and event management. The entire tournament was featured with 15 matches in which preliminary matches were played during the evening time and two semi-finals and final were scheduled on Saturday 26 May 2024 at the College Ground.

  • VESAK POYA DAY PROGRAMME INVOKES BLESSINGS FOR ARMY WAR COLLEGE
