    Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Chief of Staff (COS) of the Sri Lanka Army, presided the second meeting of Board of Management (BOM) of the Army War College (AWC), Buttala on Wednesday (28) during his official visit to AWC after being appointed as the Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army recently.

  • ARMY WAR COLLEGE WELCOMES NEW STUDENT OFFICERS FOR THE 2025 SECOND TRIMESTER

    The Army War College began its courses for the Second trimester of 2025 with a significant opening session on 26 May 2025 marking the commencement of three pivotal training courses: Senior Command Course (SCC) 14, Junior Command Course (JCC) 33 and Junior Staff Course (JSC) 29. A total of 129 Student Officers enrolled, including four foreign officers from Australia, Bangladesh, Maldives and Pakistan. To emphasize the importance of inter- services collaboration, two Officers from Sri Lanka Navy and Air Force also enrolled in this trimester’s courses.

  • ARMY WAR COLLEGE HOLDS THE GRADUATION CEREMONY 2025/1

    The Graduation Ceremony of Army War College (AWC) Buttala, for the first trimester of 2025, was held on the 30th of April 2025 at the AWC Auditorium. A total number of 147 officers upon successful completion of respective courses, namely as Senior Command Course No. 13 (SCC13), Junior Command Course No. 32 (JCC32) and Junior Staff Course No. 28 (JSC28) graduated during the ceremony while the Commandant of AWC, Major General TCMGST Cooray RWP RSP USP ndc psc, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

  • SENIOR COMMAND COURSE CONCLUDED THE STUDY TOUR TO COLOMBO

    The Student Officers of Senior Command Course (SCC) No 13, Who are to become the potential commanding Officers of the Sri Lanka Army very recently concluded their study tour to Colombo starting from 25 March to 28 March 2025. This visit facilitated the Student Officers to witness the key defence and economic related institutions in the country.

    The Army War College concluded its first-trimester Diners’ Club on 1 March 2025, featuring a compelling speech by Major General DBSN Bothota (Retired) RWP RSP VSV USP. The speech, titled ‘Professionalism; why it matters’, captivated an audience of 203 officers representing the Senior Command Course - 13, Junior Command Course - 32, and Junior Staff Course -28 along with the faculty members and permanent staff.

  • JUNIOR COMMAND COURSE TRIUMPHS VICTORY OF ARMY WAR COLLEGE CRICKET TOURNAMENT

    The Army War College Cricket Tournament conducted during the first trimester of the year 2025, was a thrilling event that showcased the talents and sportsmanship, camaraderie and event planning skills where a series of 14 matches were played among 15 teams and concluded on 16th February 2025 at the college playground. The matches were scheduled in evenings allowing both players and spectators to actively participate without disturbing the training schedules.
