The Army War College Cricket Tournament, on the Third and Final trimester in 2024, was a thrilling event that showcased the talents and sportsmanship, camaraderie and event planning with a series of 12 matches played among 10 teams, concluded on 26th October 2024 at the college playground. The matches were scheduled in evenings allowing both players and spectators to actively participate without hampering their regular studies and duties

Student Officers of Senior Command Course (SCC 12), comprised of 36 senior officers who are presently undergoing training at the Army War College (AWC) Buttala made an educational visit to Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) Diyatalawa on 25 October 2024. The Graduation Ceremony of Army War College (AWC) Buttala, for the second trimester 2024, was held on 12 August 2024 at the AWC Auditorium. A total of 115 Officers comprising 34 Student Officers from Senior Command Course No. 11 together with 55 Student Officers from Junior Command Course No. 30 and 26 Student Officers from Junior Staff Course 26 on successful completion of respective courses, received the graduation from Major General H H K S S Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, the Commandant AWC who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest

A distinguished delegation led by Brigadier TN Majeed RSP USP ndc Lsc, Director- Research Concept and Monitoring, along with members of Directorate of Research Concept and Doctrine (RCD) made a visit to Army War College (AWC) on 02 August 2024. This visit, orchestrated under the direction of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, marks a significant step towards fortifying the training standards and procedures of the AWC.

Coinciding with the occasion of visiting the temple of historic “Rahatankanda Hermitage” located in the vicinity of the Army War College by new Commandant Major General H H K S S Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc after assuming duties, the Chief Incumbent of the hermitage Venerable Elpitiye Sumanarathana Thero bestowed the Army War College with the sacred omniscient relics to be kept respectably for the homage of its troops on 13 July 2024. The procession carrying the float containing the omniscient relics to the Auditorium of the Army War College was held with a brief ceremony followed by ‘Seth Pirith’ chanting administered by the ‘Maha Sanga’. The meritorious event was attended by the Deputy Commandant and the staff together with the Student Officers.
