The Army War College Cricket Tournament 3/2023 was a thrilling event that showcased the talents and sportsmanship displaying skills, camaraderie and competitive spirit with a series of 12 matches played among 10 teams. Student Officers following Career Development Courses in the third trimester of the Army War College (AWC) visited Kataragama on 02 September 2023 during the Exercise God King. Continuing with the long-standing practice of the AWC, all student officers, faculty members and the administrative staff members together with the Chief Instructor, Senior Instructors and the Commandant AWC Brigadier U K D D P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc first invoked the blessings of sacred ‘Kiriwehera’ by participating a ‘Buddha Vandana and ‘Dhamma serman’ administered by Ven Katharagama Rahula Thero, followed by the rituals at the shrine of God Katharagama.

Army War College (AWC), organized a Bodhi Pooja Session and a Damma Sermon Session on the eve of the Nikini Poya Day on 30 August 2023. Rev Mapakada Premarathna Nayaka Thero of Katugahagalge Temple, Badalkumbura conducted the Bodhi Pooja and Dhamma Serman Session and invoked blessings on all ranks of the College. The AWC conducts ‘Bodhi Pooja and Dhamma Serman’ every poyaday and this has now been improvised with the likeminded perception of Brigadier U K D D P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, the Commandant of the Army War College.

Integrated with the Graduation Ceremony 2023, the Army War College (AWC) Buttala facilitated the student officers graduated with SCC, JCC and JSC with a fascinating Graduation Dinner Night recently held at the AWC Officers’ Mess. A total number of 151 officers comprising of 109 student officers of all 3 courses along with 42 faculty members and the attended the graduation dinner. Brigadier UKDDP Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, the Commandant AWC attended the occasion as the Chief Guest. Whilst delivering his graduation speech, he emphasized importance of culminating a ceremony in this caliber with a dinner night that was exceptionally filled with the conduct of traditional devil dancers thus maintaining the military standards. Further, he stressed that holding of the graduation dinner had previously been halted a few years due to the COVID 19 pandemic situation.
