    Team 2 of Junior Command Course became the champions of the first Cricket Tournament of Army War College held on 28 January 2023 in first trimester. Team 5 of Junior Command Course became the runners-up.

  • NEWLY APPOINTED CHIEF INSTRUCTOR TAKING OVER DUTIES

    Brigadier SP Wickramasekara RWP RSP USP psc assumed duties as the Chief Instructor of Army War College on 24 January 2023 as the second Chief Instructor after the elevation of Officer Career Development Center. A simple ceremony of religious observances was held to obtain blessings before symbolically taking up the appointment and, the new Chief Instructor placed his signature on an official document, symbolising the formal acceptance of the office at the auspicious minute. Senior Instructors and the faculty members associated the occasion.

  • PITCHING THE PROFESSIONALISM: THE FIRST DINERS' CLUB 2023 OF ARMY WAR COLLEGE

    The Diners' Club of the first trimester 2023 was held at the Army War College on 20th January 2023. The Guest Speaker was Mr. Chaminda Basnayake, Ph.D. Principal Engineer–Market Development at Locata Cooperation, Canberra Australia, who is an internationally renowned scholar delivered his speech on the theme of "GPS and GNSS today and tomorrow’s challenges" for the members of the Permanent Staff and Student Officers of the faculty, and it was very interactive and impressive session for all in every aspects of the modern navigation systems. There were about 170 participants attended the speech in the evening including the Commandant of Army War College Brigadier YAB Manada Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc and Senior Instructors of three courses: Senior Command Course, Junior Command Course and Junior Staff Course.

  • ARMY WAR COLLEGE IS READY TO HOLD SYMPOSIUM 2022

    A two-day Symposium on ‘Civil-military Relation and Military Professionalism’ in the form of a ‘Webinar’ presented by Army War College (AWC), Buttala is set on 15 and 16 December 2022. The annual symposium could not be held for two years due to challenges posed by COVID 19 pandemic. This year, the War College resumes the tradition by conducting this symposium for incumbent battalion commanders of the Army and ten officers from Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force and Special Tasks Force too will participate the webinar.

    Final Diners’ Club event of the Army War College Calendar for 2022 was held on 26 November at the Officers’ Mess where Major General DBSN Bothota RWP, RSP USP, psc, the Military Secretary and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps graced the event as the Guest Speaker. He spoke on a timely topic; ‘Officering; Challenges and Way Ahead’. 171 participants; comprising of student officers, Commandant, Chief Instructor and faculty members together with permanent staff got a unique opportunity of interacting with the Military Secretary who was the first commandant of the re-designated Army War College as well as a renowned personality in all forms of career development training of Sri Lanka Army.
