The SCC is conducted, especially to give an opportunity for the officers chosen as ‘Selected Majors’ to become professionally competent successful Battalion Commanders of the Sri Lanka Army. It is a senior level course which is designed for local officers to groom them to be competent on grade 1 level command and staff appointments. This 13-week course is open for 36 Majors or Lieutenant Colonels. This SCC is a comprehensive one, which is based on British Military Concepts of warfare and aims at inculcating mission command to the potential Battalion Commanders. It is all about the initiative applied on the field and the theoretical knowledge will be given to assist your approaches in practical application of those concepts. We need officers who are professionally competent to be effective and efficient in the field. In this context, SCC is designed to impart knowledge on Command and Staff aspects.
