  • SLCMP Seva Vanitha Has its AGM

    The 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) was held at its regimental Centre, Polhengoda with the participation of former Chairpersons, past senior members and other members of the SVU on June 26. Mrs Shirani Udawatta, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Seva Vanitha Unit (SLCMP-SVU) graced the occasion as the chief guest. Three donations, each worth Rs 200,000/= were given to three soldiers to build their houses under the recommendation of Commanding Officers of three respective units before commencement of the meeting. After the meeting, Mrs Loretta Gunawardena, a Corporate Training consultant on professional skills conducted a lecture on ‘Social Etiquettes’. The event was preceded by a lunch treat and followed by an entertainment programme plus a group photograph.

  • SLCMP-SVU Members Visit Elders’ Home

    Mrs Shirani Udawatta, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) and members of the Provost Seva Vanitha Unit of the SLCMP visited Roslin Fernando Elders’ Home, Kottawa to coincide with the Vesak Poya. A Dhamma sermon was conducted by Ven. Vataththayaye Jinawansa Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Kottawa ‘Mihindu’ Buddhist Center for the inmates, followed by provision of lunch for 50 elders at Roslin Fernando Elders’ Home. The SLCMP – SVU members donated gift packs including necessary items to each adult and donated bulbs worth of Rs 70,000 to lighten up for Vesak too. The programme was organized under the guidance of Lieutenant Colonel A. M. A Deshapriya, Commanding Officer (CO), 4 SLCMP.

  • SLCMP-SVU in Welfare Projects

    Members of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Seva Vanitha Unit (SLCMP-SVU) visited the inmates at the ward No.6 at the National Institute of Mental Health, Mulleriyawa on 22 April with the aim of inquiring into the well-being of those hospital inmates. During the programme, the inmates in the Ward No. 6 received a delicious lunch, gift packs and sweet meats for children from those who attended the programme in the SLCMP-SVU. Mrs. Shirani Udawatta, Chairperson, SLCMP-SVU together with several members of the SLCMP-SVU attended the event.

  • Donations to Construct House

    The monthly meeting of the Provost Ladies Club was held at the Officers’ mess of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP), Polhengoda on April 03. The event organized under the close supervision of Mrs Shirani Udawatta, Chairperson of the Provost Ladies Club. Meanwhile, a donation of Rs. 300,000/= as financial grants for a Soldier, Father of KIA soldier and a civil servant of the regiment was made under the recommendation of the Commanding Officers of their respective units. Concurrent to the event troops of 1 SLCMP under the guidance of Mrs Deepani Serasinghe, senior most lady organized a lecture on ‘Problems and challenges faced by the women in present society’.

  • Military Police Ladies Help Deceased Soldier's Sick Mother

    Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Seva Vanitha Unit (SLCMP-SVU) as part of their social service projects donated a much-needed commode set to the paralyzed mother of the late Corporal R.S.S Senarathne, killed during the JVP violence in 1989. Late Corporal R.S.S Senarathne was a soldier of the SLCMP at the time of his death. The project was organized by 3 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police along with SLCMP SVU ladies. The Center Commandant and senior ladies of the SLCMP SVU were present at the occasion.

  • SLCMP-SVU Sees Patients in Cancer Hospital

    The Special Investigation Unit of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) together with members of the Military Police Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU – SLCMP) including Mrs Inoka Illangakoon visited Cancer Hospital, Maharagama on Sunday (28). Under the aegis of the Chairperson SVU-SLCMP, Mrs Shirani Udawatta the team donated ten standing fans to for use of patients filling a request made by the hospital authorities. SVU members visited Children’s ward, too and distributed gift parcels including toys, sweetmeats and dry ration packs among them. Mrs Shirani Udawatta and several ASVU members visited the inmates at Cancer Hospital.

  • Military Police Seva Vanitha Unit Members Distribute Books

    Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Seva Vanitha Unit (SLCMP – SVU) members organized several donation programmes for needy children in remote areas of Kalutara, Horana and Kukuleganga on Sunday (6) under the patronage of Mrs Shirani Udawatte, Chairperson, SLCMP – SVU. The first step of the programme was conducted at the Kosgulana Temple in Kukuleganga area. A total of 4000 books worth Rs. 200,000/= were distributed among needy children at Kalutara, Horana and Kukuleganga areas during the project. Senior SLCMP – SVU members, parents and children participated in the programme.

  • SLCMP – SVU Backs Welfare Projects

    Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Seva Vanitha Unit’s (SLCMP – SVU) monthly meeting was held at the SLCMP Regimental Headquarters (SLCMP – RHQ), Polhengoda on Sunday (31) under the patronage of Mrs Shirani Udawattha, Chairperson, SLCMP – SVU. During the programme, Mrs Shirani Udawatta gave away Rs. 200,000/= to the Commanding Officer 3 SLCMP to be awarded to the father of fallen Corporal Senarathna of 1 SLCMP to construct a bath room for his paralyzed mother. The cost of the construction has been estimated at Rs. 350,000/= and the rest is to be donated by the 3 SLCMP. On the same day, another donation programme was held at the SLCMP – RHQ. Mrs. Shirani Udawatta, Chairperson, SLCMP – SVU gave away gift parcels to 6 students, who scored high marks in the Grade 5 Scholarship examination. The monetary donation was made available by Mrs Nayana De Silva, President, ASVU to purchase gifts for children.

  • Military Police Seva Vanitha Supports ASVU Welfare Projects

    Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) Seva Vanitha Unit, chaired by Mrs Shirani Udawatte during the formal New Year tea table organized by the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) at the Army Headquarters, presented a cheque to Mrs Nayana De Silva, President, ASVU to the value of Rs 1 m to be used for ASVU welfare projects for War Heroes and their families. The collection for the donation was raised by the fund-raising musical event, ‘Ran Salakuna’ staged recently by the folklore group, Ranawala Balakaya at Colombo Ananda College auditorium in November last year. The presentation of the cheque took place on 4 January when ASVU ladies met for the first time in the New Year for a special get-together.

  • SLCMP Seva Vanitha Unit Repeats its Annual Book Donation

    The Annual Book Donation programme for the school children of Army and civil personnel serving Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) was held on 12 December at Regimental Headquarters, SLCMP at Polhengoda. The event was organized by SLCMP Seva Vanitha Unit for the second consecutive year. Mrs Shirani Udawatta, Chairperson, SLCMP Seva Vanitha Unit graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A total of 1440 school children will receive school books for the academic year 2016 under the project. The programme was made more colorful by the performance of the “Lama Balakaya” of the “Ranwala Balakaya”. Several SLCMP Seva Vanitha Unit members attended the event.
