Going further step ahead, Sergeant Pushpa kumara KKM SLCMP has been able to make disinfection chamber with his own innovative idea which will enable Officers/Soldiers to sterilize for the deadly virus. Colonel BLR Bamunusinghe took over the duties as the 14th Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police on 27 February 2020. The Guard Turnout and a Ceremonial parade was presented in honour of newly appointed Centre Commandant at the Regimental Centre. Afterwards officially taking over the duties took place at his office with religious blessings. Group photograph, planting of a tree, troops address and all ranks tea culminated the days proceeding.

Taking over duties of newly promoted and newly appointed Col Comdt of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) Maj Gen LPR Premalal USP was held on 26 February 2020 at the SLCMP Regimental Headquarters premises, in Polhengoda. In conformity with military traditions Major General LPR Premalal USP was accorded with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by the troops of SLCMP upon his arrival at the venue. Senior members of the Regimental Council, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present to the occasion.

The 72nd National Independence Day ceremony that re-affirmed the commitment for strengthening of Sri Lanka’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, economic development, reconciliation and peaceful co-existence, took place at the historic Independence Square at Torrington, Colombo 7 on 04th February 2020 .
