The new accommodation Building constructed for other ranks utilizing funds allocated by Army HQ at 5th Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (Volunteer) camp at Ambalangoda was declared opened by Major General W R Palihakkara USP, Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC on 17 December 2018 on the invitation of Maj Jayantha Rajanayake SLAGSC, Commanding Officer, 5 SLAGSC (V).
Soon after the opening of the new accommodation building, Colonel Commandant was invited to plant a Mango sapling in the premises by CO - 5 SLAGSC (V) which was followed by All Ranks tea.

Inter Regiment Cricket Tournament was held during 02 June to 01 July 2018 at Muttukumaru ground in Army Cantonment, Panagoda with the participation of 17 Regimental teams under "B" division.
Final match between Sri Lanka Engineer Team and General Service Corps team was played on 01 August 2018 at Muttukumaru ground with the participation of large number of spectators. Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps team emerged Runner-up as the final outcome of the match was decided on Duckworth & Lewis method due to bad weather.

Dharmaraja College, Kandy a premier and leading buddhist school in Sri Lanka with a history spanning over 130 years held its Annual Colours Award Ceremony on 29 November 2018 at the College auditorium to appreciate the achievements of the sportsmen who excelled in various sports disciplines.
Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps and Director General Financial Management, Army HQ Major General Wajira Palihakkara USP, a proud product of Dharmaraja College, Kandy graced the occasion as the Chief Guest on the invitation of the Principal Mr Dampiya Wanasingha, Staff and Board of Management of the College.

A felicitation ceremony was held to honour Major General M H F Yusuf USP Lsc who was promoted to the rank of Major General on 26 October 2018. The customary event was unfolded on 05 December 2018 at Regimental Headquarters’ premises, Panagoda with the participation of a large number of officers and Other Ranks. On behalf of the Colonel Commandant, all officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment, the Centre Commandant extended the warm wishes to the newly promoted Major General.

Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps women's kabaddi team emerged Champions for the 3rd consecutive year at the Inter Regiment Kabaddi Championship - 2018 conducted by the Army Kabaddi Sports Committee defeating Sri Lanka Army Womens' Corps kabaddi team. The tournament was held at the Army Gymnasium at Panagoda Cantonment from 16 to 18 October 2018.

Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps officers get together organized to coincide with the 67th Regimental Anniversary was held on 23rd September 2018 at the Kingsbury, Colombo. Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army accompanied by Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, Chairperson Seva Vanitha Army Unit graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
