Lt Gen Mahesh Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC, Commander of the Army visited Headquarters of 6th Battalion Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (Volunteer) on 18 January 2019 during his visit to declare open the newly commissioned MRE manufacturing facility at Kandakadu Army Farm.

On the directions given by the Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC officers took initiative to organize a felicitation ceremony to a loyal and dedicated member of the civilian staff attached to Regimental Officers' Mess in the capacity of an Steward since 1989 on his retirement. Maj Gen Wajira Palihakkara, DGFM - AHQ and Col Comdt, SLAGSC visited "Ranaviru Sevana" at Ragama with few senior officers on 08 January 2019 in line with the visit by the Comd of the Army to Mihidu Seth Medura wellness resort on the same day. This visit was arranged by Army HQ to convey New Year blessings and to distribute new year gifts from Comd of the Army among the war heroes in receiving medical treatments at Ranaviru Sevana.

The new canteen facility for all ranks constructed at 1 SLAGSC detachment located in Alla-Kanthale was declared open by Major General Wajira Palihakkara USP, Colonel Commandant SLAGSC on 06 January 2019 on the invitation of Lt Col Thilak Dissanayake, CO - 1 SLAGSC. The detachment was established in year 1978 at its present location and has contributed immensely to Agriculture activities of the Army and played a vital role during operations conducted against terrorists for three decades.

SLAGSC Trade School at Kuttigala received Rs. 6.6 Million worth new building (100' 20') as student dining hall and Rs. 2.5 Million worth new armoury building. Both buildings were declared open on 24 Dec 2018 by Major General Wajira Palihakkara USP, Colonel Commandant and Director General Financial Management, AHQ.

The Inter Regiment Championship - 2018 organized by the Sri Lanka Army Body Building, Weight Lifting and Power Lifting committee was held from 18th to 20th December 2018 at the Army Weight Lifting Gymnasium at Army Cantonment, Panagoda with the participation of approximately 181 athletes representing all Regiments of the Sri Lanka Army.

The SLAGSC officers training day for the 4th quarter of 2018 was conducted at RHQ SLAGSC, Panagoda on 18 December 2018. Training programme for the day commenced with physical training parade at 0600 hrs with the participation of Colonel Commandant, council members, senior officers and approximately 165 officers which included Legal, Accounts, Agriculture and other professional category officers of SLAGSC.

The new accommodation Building constructed for other ranks utilizing funds allocated by Army HQ at 5th Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (Volunteer) camp at Ambalangoda was declared opened by Major General W R Palihakkara USP, Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC on 17 December 2018 on the invitation of Maj Jayantha Rajanayake SLAGSC, Commanding Officer, 5 SLAGSC (V).
Soon after the opening of the new accommodation building, Colonel Commandant was invited to plant a Mango sapling in the premises by CO - 5 SLAGSC (V) which was followed by All Ranks tea.

Inter Regiment Cricket Tournament was held during 02 June to 01 July 2018 at Muttukumaru ground in Army Cantonment, Panagoda with the participation of 17 Regimental teams under "B" division.
Final match between Sri Lanka Engineer Team and General Service Corps team was played on 01 August 2018 at Muttukumaru ground with the participation of large number of spectators. Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps team emerged Runner-up as the final outcome of the match was decided on Duckworth & Lewis method due to bad weather.
