Armour Ladies have stepped in with their contribution and joined the combat against the Covid 19 pandemic. Under the guidance of Vice President of Army Seva Wanitha Unit cum President Armour Ladies Club Mrs Sheromi Liyanage and its members joined the drive of distributing dry ration packs to the 60 needy families in Hettikattiya Grama Niladhari Division, Kahatagasdigiliya on 21 April 2020.
Armour Ladies Club under the patronage of its president Mrs Sheromi Liyanage took initiative to commence a programme to grant Rs. 3,000 each to all civil staff attached to the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps aiming to help those who are affected by the outbreak of the coronavirus sweeping across the country.
Prize awarding ceremony for the winners of the Raffle draw 2019 organized by the Armour Ladies Club was held on 15th February 2020 at the Home of Armour. Raffle Draw 2019 was held on 27th December 2019 and twenty two prizes were distributed among the lucky winners during the event.
Armour Ladies visited the inmates of ‘Abhimansala III - Pangolla’, one of the Rehabilitation Centres of Sri Lanka Army on 15 January as the first event of year 2020.
As a continuation of the customary, Armour Ladies Club provided school books and stationeries to the school children of all Officers and soldiers including killed in action, missing in action and wounded in action and also to the children of civil servants.
Under the guidance of the President Armour Ladies Club, Mrs Sheromi Liyanage provided monetary assistance worth of Rs 680,000.00 to Cpl Gunawardena BS - 6 SLAC and Cpl Indika Kumara RPL - 4 SLAC to complete construction works of their houses. The President and members of Armour Ladies Club visited both constructed houses at Kurunegala and Kadugannawa on 13 November 2019 in order to witness completed construction works. The events were held with simple ceremonies and during the programme, Armour Ladies gifted essential items required for day to day life of occupants.
Dependent War Heroes, residing at the ‘Abhimansala - 2’ wellness resort at Kamburupitiya, Matara were taken on a visit to historical and religious sites in Anuradhapura, Mannar, Jaffna and Mullaithivu for 4 days from 25 October 2019 to 28 October 2019.
Armour Ladies Club donated a newly built house to Trooper Mahindasinghe W K (3 SLAC) spending Rs 1,000,000.00 for construction works. The house warming ceremony was held on the auspicious time fallen on 14th October 2019 at their new residence, Kadanhena, Horana.
The President Mrs Sheromi Liyanage and members of the Armour Ladies Club have visited the ‘Abhimansala 2 - Kamburupitiya’, one of the Rehabilitation Centres of Sri Lanka Army on 13 September 2019. Day began with the visit to all war heroes who are undergoing rehabilitation and ladies took time to interact and distribute gifts amongst them.
