On the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day of India, Security Forces Jaffna and Acting Consulate General of India in Jaffna paid tributes in the memory of fallen heroes of the 10th Para Commando Regiment of Indian Army who sacrificed their lives during the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) operation “Operation Pawan” in Jaffna between year 1987 and 1989. The commemoration ceremony was held at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) monument in Palaly, Jaffna on Wednesday, 26 January 2022.
As per the direction and guidance of Head of the Green Agriculture Operation Centre and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva, Security Forces - Jaffna commenced a 04 days’ workshop on 24 January 2022 at Agriculture Training Centre, Thirunelvely in close collaboration with relevant state agencies. The workshop will be terminated on 29 January 2022. The aim of the workshop is to create a healthy generation of eco-friendly health care environment in line with the His Excellency the President's Vision of ‘Vistas Prosperity’ National Programme.
On the direction of the Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, a one month training programme for junior officers under Security Forces Jaffna was commenced on 20 January 2022 in order to enhance Junior Officers military knowledge and prepare them for the promotion examinations.
Security Forces Commander, Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa graced the occasion as the chief guest and delivered the opening note and emphasized that the aim of this training programme is to inculcate leadership qualities, impart theoretical knowledge and practical experiences on individual and collective training to groom as confident, competent and professionally sound junior level officers in the Army. And also prepare them for their promotion exams.
Colonel GAT Godewatte RWP RSP assumed duties as the 25th Brigade Commander of the 512 Infantry Brigade on 18th January 2022. An official team of green agriculture operation centre Jaffna under Security Forces Jaffna visited the Regional Agriculture Research Development Center Killinochchi. With the intension of receiving technical knowledge awareness and ground level experience on the process of how to launch and function of government Green Agriculture protect.
As the concept of Major General Sujeeva Senarath Yapa, Commander, Security Forces Jaffna the first stage of the English language course for troops in Jaffna peninsula was commenced on 18 January 2022. The Commander’s effort is to enhance the proficiency of English language among the troops in the North.
A one day workshop on ‘Mission Command and Leadership Training took place at Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna under the direction and close supervision of the Commander Security Forces Jaffna Major General Sujeewa Senerath Yapa RWP RSP ndu on 15 January 2022. This programme is yet another step in developing the professionalism of tactical level leaders in keeping with the guidelines given by CDS and Commander of the Army Gen Shavendra Silva in the Army Way Forward Strategy 2025.
This one day training programme consisted of leadership training sessions, development of self-confidence; etc was attended by 105 officers and 100 other ranks from all 30 battalions of the Jaffna AOR. The trainees consisted of Commanding Officers, Company Commanders, Platoon Commanders, Regimental Sergeant Majors, Company Sergeant Majors and Platoon Sergeants. Further, Senior Officers of under Command Brigades of 51, 52 and 55 divisions under Security Forces Jaffna also joined to this one day workshop via zoom technology.
Mr. Ram Mahesh (Consul), Head of Chancery and Commercial Representative in the Consulate General of India in Jaffna met Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, the Security Forces Commander (Jaffna) on 12 January 2022 and extended his warm wishes to the commander for the New Year 2022.
