With the broad concept of a healthy soldier, a robust mentality physical fitness and to enhance the cohesion and comradeship among troops, a soft ball cricket tournament was organized for 553 Infantry brigade troops at brigade headquarters recently. On 10 and 11 February 2023, the softball cricket tournament was held by the 553 Infantry Brigade and under command elements with co-located Battalion Training School of the 55 Infantry Division. The event was organized under the guidance of Commander 553 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Janak Premathilake.

On the direction and supervision of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Swarna Bothota the first phase of the certificate course was launched with the participation of 17 Other Ranks.

In that, beach volleyball was introduced for the first time to the youth of the Vadamarachchi (East) area. It is a broad concept of the Commander 553 Infantry Brigade Colonel Janak Premathilake USP psc with the conceptual guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division Major General Prasanna Gunarathne RSP ndu psc IG. The programme was organized by 10 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 12 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 553 Infantry Brigade.
