The Security Forces Headquarters in Jaffna proudly marked the commencement of a series of events celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, on Thursday, October 10.
The formal ceremony began with the hoisting of the Army flag by Major General GLSW Liyanage USP psc, Logistic Command of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna). The event also included the recitation of the Army Song to honor the motherland. A poignant moment followed with the observance of two minutes of silence to pay tribute to the Fallen War Heroes who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the country's territorial integrity.
The event also featured the reading of the Army Commander’s message, commemorating the Army's 75th anniversary, and the symbolic planting of tamarind tree saplings by senior officers including Brigadier KJNMPK Nawarathna RWP RSP ndu, Brigadier General Staff, and Colonel KMAWK Perera aato, Brigadier Admin and Quartering.
