In a resounding display of compassion and solidarity, the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch launched a special empowerment initiative for civil servants stationed in 11 Field Engineer Regiment, Navatkuli, Jaffna on 11th April 2026. This noble gesture, held in anticipation of the upcoming Sinhala and Hindu New Year, was conducted under the visionary guidance and heartfelt leadership of Mrs. Geetha Wickramanayaka, the President of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch.
Recognizing the unique hardships faced by those serving in remote locations, the Commanding Officer of the 11 Field Engineer Regiment, Lt Col D M R C Dunusinghe psc SLE meticulously organized the event to provide much-needed financial relief. Despite the prevailing challenging economic conditions, the initiative sought to ensure that the spirit of the festive season is shared by all, regardless of the geographical or financial hurdles they may face.
During the ceremony, Mrs. Geetha Wickramanayaka personally reached out to the staff, presenting monetary gifts of Rs. 5,000 to each recipient as a token of the Seva Vanitha Branch’s appreciation. In a further act of significant generosity, the Commanding Officer of the 11 Field Engineer Regiment, Lt Col D M R C Dunusinghe psc SLE, contributed additional monetary gifts of Rs. 10,000 to each of the participants, substantially bolstering their festive preparations.
A total of 14 civil servants benefited from this meaningful program, which served as a testament to the Corps’ dedication to the welfare of its extended workforce. The event concluded on a high note as the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Major General C D Wickramanayake WV RSP ndc, addressed the gathering. He expressed his profound gratitude for the tireless work and invaluable commitment of the civil staff, noting that their dedication alongside military personnel remains a cornerstone of the organization’s success.
