The 9 Field Engineer Regiment of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers had the distinct honour of hosting the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, on an official visit to the 9 Field Engineer Regiment at Kokavil on 26 October 2025.
The programme commenced with the Colonel Commandant being accorded a drive-past at the main entrance and warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel B D J Rangajeewa USP psc SLE, Commanding Officer of the 9 Field Engineer Regiment.
Following the formal welcome, the Commanding Officer, together with the Officers of the unit, presented a comprehensive briefing on the regiment’s operational commitments, ongoing deployments, and overall performance. To mark this memorable occasion, a group photograph was taken with the Chief of Staff and all Officers, capturing a moment of pride and unity.
Subsequently, the Colonel Commandant addressed all ranks, emphasizing the importance of leading by example, fostering a strong bond between Officers and Other Ranks, and maintaining a balanced family life and exemplary behaviour. He further urged all personnel to remain vigilant against dangerous drugs and illegal activities, while encouraging active participation and support towards the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, reinforcing the Army’s commitment to national wellbeing.
As a symbolic gesture, the Colonel Commandant planted a sapling within the camp premises, signifying growth, sustainability, and commitment to the future. Thereafter, he engaged in an informal interaction with Officers and Other Ranks during a tea arrangement at the Sappers’ Mess.
The visit also included an extensive camp tour, during which the Colonel Commandant inspected accommodation areas, the main kitchen, SNCOs’ Mess, and other administrative facilities. He took time to converse with troops, inquiring into their welfare and living standards. Before concluding the visit, the Colonel Commandant penned a complimentary remark in the Visitors’ Book at the Officers’ Mess.
The event was further graced by the distinguished presence of Brigadier H K P Karunathilake RSP, Overlooking Commander of the Engineer Division and Commander Field Engineer Brigade along with Colonel R M Subasinghe RSP, Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, whose participation added prestige and significance to this memorable occasion.
