Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, who is the Commander of Security Forces (West) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, conducted an inspection of ongoing development projects executed from Army allocated funds, at the Regimental Centre and the Home of Sappers, Mattegoda, on Friday, 1st October 2024.
Accompanying the Senior Officer on the visit were Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc, Director of Engineer Services, and a qualified team of Officers representing the Directorate of Engineer Services.
The inspection began at the Mattegoda Camp, where the Engineers Division Office Complex and the ORs’ three-story accommodation at the 5 Field Engineer Regiment were thoroughly examined.
The Colonel Commandant acknowledged the hard work and commitment of the work force, noting that their contributions were vital to the successful completion of these projects.
The visit then moved to the Regimental Centre of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, where Director Engineer Services, inspected projects including the Lieutenant General NKB Angammana Auditorium, Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess, Other Ranks Mess Kitchen, and the newly constructed Officers’ Mess Kitchen.
Major General TC Peiris RSP USP, Chief Field Engineer, and Brigadier SPG Gamage RWP RSP USP, General Officer Commanding of Engineer Division, who participated alongside the Overlooking Centre Commandant to the inspection visit programme.
As the camps continues to evolve, these infrastructure developments will play a critical role in enhancing its capacity to serve the needs of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
