SENIOR SAPPER VETERAN CALLS ON COLONEL COMMANDANT - CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

Colonel Lucky Rajasinghe (Retired) WWV RWP RSP USP psc, one of the senior veterans in the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers currently settled in USA, visited to the Regimental Centre, to pay courtesies to the Commander Security Forces (West) and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc on Monday (23rd)

The Colonel Commandant warmly welcomed the visiting senior veteran, who happened to be a former Commanding Officer of the prestigious 1 Field Engineer Regiment. Colonel Lucky Rajasinghe (Retired), one of the proud products of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers who retired from the Army in 1996 and has rendered a notable service to the Army at operational, administrative and instructional levels.

Colonel Lucky Rajasinghe (Retired) is also a celebrated marksman who has shined the Regiment, Sri Lanka Army and the Nation having been the National Champion in Small-bore rifle shooting from 1979 to 2002. He served as Captain of the Sri Lanka Sports Contingent from 1991 to 1999 and has earned medals at the Commonwealth, Asian, and Oceania Games. Additionally, he was the Army Champion in both Practical Pistol and Rifle Shooting.

During the brief interactive session, Major General Lanka Amarapala admired the retired Senior Officer’s valuable contribution to the Army holding varied offices and responsible appointments during his career over 23 years and extended best wishes to the visiting Senior Sapper Veteran by presenting a memento after the meeting and followed by a visit of the Regimental Centre and the 1 Field Engineer Regiment, where Colonel Lucky Rajasinghe (Retired) reflected on his past memories in this esteemed Corps after laying of a wreath as a floral tribute to the brave fallen war heroes of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
